Collage Workshop and Studio Work

Hey Friends,  This photo was taken Saturday at the Double Line Painters collage workshop held at 2nd Helpings in Roanoke.  The workshop was a huge success, all the participants seemed to be very happy with their work.  I think my little Sweetheart up there looks like a Gummi Bear.  She is in that awkward stage of losing baby teeth.  And she's as big a chicken as her mom was about pulling them out.  Funny.
Just a snap of what's going on in the studio.  Using some of the collage papers made for the workshop.  This is their ugly stage.  Soon they will be swans!
And here is my latest accidental catch.  This guy was on our porch just yesterday with his sister, eating Ms. Kittys food.   He is as mean as they come.  And barked like a dog.  Never heard a coon before.  I could not get him out of the cage 'cuz he really wanted a bite.  I was gonna leave him till he calmed down, but Mom got him out by propping the door with a brick.

Newest Dictionary Art "G"

Hey Friends,  Adding the letter "G" to my Etsy shop.  Surely I could have found a better subject for G, right?
Well, my excuse will be, I've always wanted to do something with the Gargoyles I saw when I was in France, several years back.  Afraid I didn't do them justice...........

Making an Image Bigger

Hey Friends,  I've been playing with blogger again.  I can't seem to do exactly what I want.  I wanted to make the images I post here larger.  I have been going by instructions from Karen Marqulais ........
I did find the area where I made the side bar more narrow so bigger photos could fit (actually I THINK I did this correctly-I haven't published this post yet so it may not work for me)
So I think I've succedded.
The top img is a close up of a commission I'm working on.  Bottom img is my initial start.  I'm not finished but I like it a lot and hope the couple like it too.

Another Great Day

Hey Friends,  Showing you a few shots from a wonderful day painting on the Blue Ridge Parkway with the Double Line Painters.  We went to the Buffalo Mtn. Overlook at MP 168, I think.  It's gorgeous country.
I took my trusty little camera and watercolors with a mixed media sketch book.  So I can tell ya, mixed media paper does not work like watercolor paper.  Still a good experience.
And one ordinary view with my point and shoot.  Photo's can never capture the grandeur of Mother Nature.

Hey Friends,  We (the DoubleLinePainters) will be setting up again this Saturday the 13th on the huge porch at Ikenberry's retail store on Rt. 220 in Botetourt.
These photos were taken at our last set-up in April.  This time there will be peaches from their orchards for sale along with our artworks.  Hoping all this rain hasn't been detrimental to the peaches.
Hope you can come by between ninish and threeish.  I know they are not words-Ha.

First Friday Art Walk Roanoke Va.

Hey Friends,  I took my GranBabes and niece to the Grand Opening of Wonderland Gallery last night.  It was held during the 1st Friday's Art Walk in DT Roanoke, Va. last night.
The kids stuffed a cupcake in their face first thing, so they were a bit hyper, so we only made it to Wonderland and Studio's on the Square, next door.  I wanted to see Terry Lyon new studio on the market, but that will have to wait until next month.  It was good to see a few old friends from Gallery 108 !
Wonderland had a good turn out as you can see in the photo above.  Jerry did a great job of hanging the artwork and making the place look like a new bill.  Josh was there too.  I will have to go back and get some shots of the fab art hanging on their walls.
Congrats and Best of Luck to Wonderland ! !

Commission Work

Hey Friends,  Just showing you what I'm working on at the moment.  A wonderful couple has commissioned me to paint a fun piece for their lake house bathroom.
Above are some items to inspire me.  If anyone knows me well, then they know my favorite themes are tropical.   I would paint palms all day if anyone wanted them.  The bathroom walls are the color on the paint can, AQUA, my favorite color of all.
Obviously fish is the main subject.  And bubbles.  Lots of bubbles.  Should be fun !!

Tonight is the First Fridays Art Crawl in downtown Roanoke.  I'm hoping to go and hoping it doesn't rain.  The sky has not done anything but rain for days and days, maybe weeks.  Water, Water everywhere.
We shall see.  I especially want to see the NEW gallery called "Wonderland" on Campbell.  I'll give a report tomorrow.   See you all downtown !

Frog Collage and a Silly Bird

Hey Friends,  I added the newest dictionary painting/collage to Etsy today.  F is for Frog !!
And I just wanted you to see this silly, beautiful Dove I rescued from Mom's Greenhouse.   Birds are always going in there and then can't remember how they got in.   Mom said she threw one out yesterday.  From her description it sounded like Phoebe (I can't spell).  This dove was so laid back, she didn't seem to mind my holding her.   Oh yeah, I have been trapping squirrels and hauling them to new homes because they are pigs and won't let my birds have any of the seeds I put out.  I'm nice, mind you, they are never hurt.  I take them to a nice new home with lots of trees.  They are such a nusense.  I've relocated 12 of the rodents.  I also forgot to unset the traps  a couple nights and nabbed a raccoon, a possum, a skunk, and a baby possum.  I let all these critters go, didn't want to move them.  I'm really enjoying all my birds.  My favorite little woodpecker brought her baby to the suet.  What a treat.
