ORIGINAL PAINTING FROM THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY NEAR EXPLORE PARK

Hey Friends,  Posting another from the Blue Ridge Parkway Series.  Looking up the hill at the beautiful sky - My favorite thing to paint.
This is done with acrylics on an archival linen mat board.   I really like the surface texture.  I believe I'd be happier if I glued the mat board to a panel first.  Then it wouldn't have to be framed under glass.
This is for auction on EBAY.  Click Here.  Engages tomorrow night.

Original Landscape Painting - Blue Ridge Parkway Series

Hey Friends,  Life can get in the way of computer time, can't it?   It's a beautiful life though.

I remember well the beautiful warm day I was on the Parkway and took the photos for this painting.  I pulled over on the edge of the road but wished I could walk up that hill and see the valley.  I don't remember what stopped me.  In a hurry as usual, I'm sure.  I do believe I SHOULD go back and take that walk.  The worst that could happen would be the arrest for trespassing.  Right?

This little memory is for auction on EBAY.  Will not engage until Thursday night.

Hey Friends,  Totally forgot to post anything yesterday !  DUH.  I was so engrossed in painting just slipped my mind.  Normally on Friday nights I have my Gran-Babes but not this time.  They had a family night.
So I painted this last night along with 4 more of various sizes.  Don't ya love a good roll?

Up for auction on EBAY.  Doesn't engage until tomorrow night.

ORIGINAL PLEIN AIR START AND THE GRAND FINALE

Hey Friends,  Here is the end result.  Below is what I started with.  Sometimes Mother Nature does not make this painters life easy.  Below was just the beginning but even then there wasn't much to work with in the sky.  I repainted that sky 3 times.  Still not sure if that's the best I can do.
This is a rather large one @ 11"x 17" on Terra Skin.  A new development in artist paper that I really like the texture of.  It is made from crushed stone, so you would think it's OK to use oils on.

Thank you for stopping in.  Hope you return tomorrow.

ORIGINAL SKYSCAPE PAINTING WITH UTILITY POLE

Hey Friends,  We had another beautiful day here in the SW Mountains of Virginia.  I walked around a bit with the camera, shooting this and that.
Came home and painted a few small pieces of the utility poles.  No birds today.  Odd.

This is for auction in EBAY

I'm painting a scene along the Blue Ridge Parkway, so I shall be on my way.

ORIGINAL PLEIN AIRE PAINTING IN SALEM, VIRGINIA

Hey Friends,  I was ready because I caught the weather report last night.  Today, Tuesday the 20th of Jan. the temps. went up into the 50's.  The sun was glorious, nice breeze most of the time.  Once, twice it was a full gale.
I went out past Dixie Caverns and turned onto an old familiar road (can't remember name) that goes past the new regional jail.  After the RR tracks is a tiny white church on the left.  Pulled in there to paint this beautiful barn and silo across the road with the mountains in background.
Had to include the white streams airplanes make just as they were.  I'm pretty sure anybody else would tell me that is a design NO NO.    But I have a license that says I can do anything I want with paint.

Went on around to the end of that road and started this one.  It will be finished tonight, I hope.
This is acrylic on Terra Skin.  This new paper is made from stone.  Amazing stuff.  Feels wonderful.
Artists should give it a try.  I found mine at Cheap Joes.

Glad you could stop in.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF "MYSTERY TREES"

Hey Friends,  Another "start" is finished.  This is the view behind the Home Place Restaurant on Rt.311-headed towards Catawba.  Beautiful piece of land.  These trees really caught my attention.  I did not do them justice.  I was finishing this painting from a photo and I'm sure the colors were incorrect.  I need to go back before they change colors

It is supposed to be in the upper 50's tomorrow (Tues) so that sounds like the place to go!

I was painting this start on the spot with my friends from Texas and they did not think the trees were Mesquite but were not sure.  So they remain a mystery.

This is for auction on EBAY- CLICK HERE

"GRAZING" ORIGINAL PAINTING OF THE NATIVE BISON

Hey Friends,  Finished this piece last night.  Just need to varnish now.  I have taken photos at a tiny little glitch in Rt. 311 past Catawba called PaintBank.  There is a farm that raises these beasts.  I will have to go back to my notebook to find the name.  They sell the meat there at the little country store that is called Paintbank also.  Beautiful area to paint in.
I decided to put this piece up for auction in EBay.  Because I'm wondering if E-Bayers like this subject and Native Americans also.  CLICK HERE to check the auction.

ORIGINAL PAINTING - "WINDIEST DAY EVER"

Hey Friends,  I have been a wee bit busy - just painting !!  YAY, love it when I get to paint all day.  That makes winter bearable, for me anyway.  What do you like to do during the winter?

Over at the DLP blog,  you can see what some of the members like to do during the yucky gray days of winter.  CLICK HERE.

Now the painting above is for auction in EBAY.  It is scheduled to go live tomorrow night.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF LITTLE GIRL SKIPPING SIDEWALK CRACKS

Hey Friends,  This little girl is a great model.  She will dress up or down and go about her business as you take photos.  She pretends she is doing whatever you ask of her.  For this shoot, I asked her to pretend she was walking on a tightrope, high in the sky.  This particular frame looked like she was avoiding the sidewalk cracks, so she wouldn't hurt her Mothers back.

This is listed in ETSY now.

Thanks for stopping in.

ORIGINAL LANDSCAPE PAINTING OF STOWE VERMONT

Hey Friends,  A piece I finished last year.  Painted from photos my Sister took while visiting my Aunt Shirley in Burlington, Vermont.  Aunt Shirley is buried under about 8' of snow right now but I would love to see her country in the summer.  She says it is very green.

I'm trained as a professional framer so you can trust that this frame is well made.  It is not a glaring shade of gold, kind of mello, with a touch of bronze.  It is handsome.

It is available in ETSY.

CHECKING THE HERD - ORIGINAL SMALL PAINTING OF HORSE AND RIDER

Hey Friends,  Hope everyone is still fairing well in this deep freeze.  Won't be much longer 'til spring !

The painting above was developed from several different photos.  You know how hard it is to get models to do exactly what you want.  The dog spent most of his energy chasing the cows.  And the human rarely sat up straight !  We artists know how to overcome all obstacles.  LOL.

It's available in ETSY.

Hopefully I will learn how to use PICMONKEY soon and have some collages to show you.

BUMBLING - An original painting of Sunflowers and Bumble Bee's

Hey Friends, Do you wonder why I painted this?  It's frozen here in SW Virginia, as is most of our country and I'm anxious for spring to return.  How do the Eskimos make it?  How do the Canadians make it?  And it isn't because they are used to it.  I've lived here most of my life and I'm not used to it.  I was meant to live on an island like Gilligan (telling my age) so to save my sanity, I paint bright, colorful flowers and bee's
Hoping you are a bit like me and love happy paintings on your walls.
This is available in my ETSY SHOP.

Along Barbour's Creek

Hey Friends,  Maybe this summer time painting will warm you up.  Here in the Blue Ridge Mountains it is COLD.  Not as bad as Chicago or Hillesville but too cold for this summer lovin' gal.  I have a friend that lives in Hillsville (West of Salem, Va.) and it is supposed to be NEG. 20 or Minus 20 degrees there tomorrow night.  I hope even the mean, cold hearted people out there will let their pets in tonight.  And what about chickens?  I would like to have some chickens but how would I keep them from freezing to death?

Now back to this painting I created in the studio from photos I took last year maybe.  The owner of this estate could not have found a prettier place to set down roots.  He said the bricks were shipped in by a Mayflower type boat from England a couple hundred years ago.  Can you imagine how long that took?  And almost in his front yard is Barbour's Creek.  One of the prettiest large creeks I've ever seen.  And he had several horses and what artist can resist painting horses !

I so enjoyed that day, even if I did fall into the creek and ruin my camera.

This is available in my ETSY shop.

Bumble Bee No.12 and Bedford Hay Bales

Hey Friends,  Here are the Bee's again.  They are such great models.  I started this canvas with a layer of fine sand gel with lots of texture so the paint would settle into the little valleys and/or stick to the peaks.  The base/background color is Magenta.  Can't wait for them to come out of hibernation.

This is No. 3 in the Bedford series of Autumn colors.  Round Hay Bales.  A lot different from Van Gogh's and Monet's Hay Stacks.  I wonder how they kept it all winter?

Hope everyone is warm and happy.  Thank you for visiting my blog.

Nasturtium's Glow

Hey Friends,  Still bringing you some sunshine !  This painting started out pretty abstractly.  I sprayed the milk weed looking pods with water to make the stems from the drips.  Then when I added the transparent orange, it reminded me of my Mom's nasturtiums.  They are the prettiest shade of orange I've ever seen and I'm not a fan of orange.  And you know the bees had to follow.

This painting is framed as shown above.  The frame was plain, I added the color and the crackle glaze.  Both are varnished.
It is available in my Etsy shop, CLICK HERE

Hope everyone is used to this New Year and writing 2015.  And the little school babes go back to the classroom after tomorrow.  Time is flying at a whiplash speed.

First Post of 2015 with a look toward Spring

Hey Friends,  Starting this New Year right !  Starting with thoughts of the coming spring.  My GranBabes and I (me especially) are sick of being cooped up indoors.  And its only January.  At least 3 more months of this yuck.
This little painting was a joy to create.  I love to play with the colors of spring.  Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Daffodils, Iris, Tulips all have so many joyful colors, you can't help but be happy when looking at them.
Do you remember swinging on an old rope swing with the wooden seat?  Most of us loved to be twirled until the ropes were wrapped all the way to the top and then pushed, way high and twirling all at once.  Such great fun.
I'm listing some of my untraditional work (such as collages) in my neglected ETSY shop.  CLICK HERE to check it out.  I will still be listing work on Ebay.  It seems the people that shop on Ebay want more straight forward paintings, not so much contemporary.
Everything is an Experiment.
