ORIGINAL PAINTING OF SISTERS PATIO GARDEN

Hey Friends, I was able to get out and paint a bit more today.  After I picked up my little GranBabes from school, we went to my sisters house.
While the babes jumped on the trampoline and swung, I Painted!

This is the view of the patio from her driveway.  The giant bush in the back has pretty little round yellow blooms.  Don't know what it's called but it is very hearty.  The sweet little birds like to nest in it.  The bleeding heart is on the left, with Va. Blue Bells.  There is Iris and phlox on the right.

CLICK HERE for the EBAY auction. We want to go to the beach this year, and every bit helps.  This would make a great gift for Mom's Day or your Sis's Birthday.

Thanks for stopping in.

ORIGINAL PAINTING STILL LIFE CONTEMPORARY FLORAL

Hey Friends,  When I find work that's been packed away or maybe it comes back from gallery, it doesn't always look like something I would typically do.  I enjoy experimenting and trying new techniques so some doesn't fit my NORMAL mode.

I always return to my place of contentment.  Mostly Mother Nature.

This is for auction on Ebay now.  CLICK HERE.  Could add that spark of color excitement to your room or office.

More coming soon.

Original Landscape Painting - Blue Ridge Parkway Series

Hey Friends,  Life can get in the way of computer time, can't it?   It's a beautiful life though.

I remember well the beautiful warm day I was on the Parkway and took the photos for this painting.  I pulled over on the edge of the road but wished I could walk up that hill and see the valley.  I don't remember what stopped me.  In a hurry as usual, I'm sure.  I do believe I SHOULD go back and take that walk.  The worst that could happen would be the arrest for trespassing.  Right?

This little memory is for auction on EBAY.  Will not engage until Thursday night.

ORIGINAL PLEIN AIRE PAINTING IN SALEM, VIRGINIA

Hey Friends,  I was ready because I caught the weather report last night.  Today, Tuesday the 20th of Jan. the temps. went up into the 50's.  The sun was glorious, nice breeze most of the time.  Once, twice it was a full gale.
I went out past Dixie Caverns and turned onto an old familiar road (can't remember name) that goes past the new regional jail.  After the RR tracks is a tiny white church on the left.  Pulled in there to paint this beautiful barn and silo across the road with the mountains in background.
Had to include the white streams airplanes make just as they were.  I'm pretty sure anybody else would tell me that is a design NO NO.    But I have a license that says I can do anything I want with paint.

Went on around to the end of that road and started this one.  It will be finished tonight, I hope.
This is acrylic on Terra Skin.  This new paper is made from stone.  Amazing stuff.  Feels wonderful.
Artists should give it a try.  I found mine at Cheap Joes.

Glad you could stop in.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF "MYSTERY TREES"

Hey Friends,  Another "start" is finished.  This is the view behind the Home Place Restaurant on Rt.311-headed towards Catawba.  Beautiful piece of land.  These trees really caught my attention.  I did not do them justice.  I was finishing this painting from a photo and I'm sure the colors were incorrect.  I need to go back before they change colors

It is supposed to be in the upper 50's tomorrow (Tues) so that sounds like the place to go!

I was painting this start on the spot with my friends from Texas and they did not think the trees were Mesquite but were not sure.  So they remain a mystery.

This is for auction on EBAY- CLICK HERE

Seize the Day

Hey Friends,  Are you feeling the pressure yet?  Are the kids racing in circles around your legs while you are trying to get everything done?
'Tis that time of the year, right?
It's too late this year unless you are really local (not loco) to order from Ebay.  But keep it in mind for next year or the next gift you need to find for Mom or Aunt Lily.  A few clicks of the mouse and you will be DONE !

This piece is for auction on Ebay, starting at 99 cents.

Poppies

Hi Friends,  Been deathly ill for a couple days and I'm sitting up right now so I've gotta post before I cave in.
The painting above was done a few years ago and unearthed recently in a studio clean up.
I was playing with gold leaf at the time.  And the poppies are painted on Masa Rice Paper.  Lots of textures in the background.  Click HERE for the ebay auction.
Hope to be up and attem? tomorrow.

Plein Aire Waterside

Hey Friends,  Another painting done at Brookside Park next to the Golf Club.  On Williamson Road here in Roanoke, Va.  In this very spot is where all the little kiddies like to play.  They really like to turn over the rocks and find a craw daddy.  The girls let out such piercing squeals and the boys come running. Fun !  Click HERE for ebay.

When I was cleaning out the studio, I found lots of frames and forgotten stuff such as this little Angel.  I like it in the Hummingbird frame.

In case anyone wants to know,  It's been very dreary here in the Blue Ridge all day.  We haven't gotten any snow, thankfully.

My Muse

Hey Friends,  It seems every Monday I miss posting my blog.  Even when I preload this blog, days before.  I miss it. OK better late than never.
I'm sure most of you know my muse is nature.  Just going outside makes me want to paint.
The one above was painted at Douthat State Park this summer.  Good Memories.  Click HERE for Ebay.

And this Walnut tree was painted at Brookside Park.  Yes, the one beside the golf course.  When I take my GranBabes here to play in the water, they are so busy and happy, I get to paint !!
Can't think of anything better than watching my Loves play and painting at the same time.

Douthat State Park

Hey Friends, The sky constantly entices me to paint.  When we were at Douthat a few months ago, the sky was exceptionally beautiful.  I painted several skyscapes  and enjoyed every minute.
Check this out on Ebay HERE.

And this poor little Dogwood decided to give up her fight.  She made a few little sprouts this year but I'll bet she is gone next year.  Hopefully the forest service guys will leave her there for the woodpeckers.  Time marches on little dogwood.
Check her out in Ebay HERE.

Walking Max

Hey Friends,  Some new work.  I took photos a few months ago of my niece and gran babe walking MAX all around the yard.  The sun was going down and glowing through this large bush.  I think it was called "Broom".  Very pretty but a little difficult to capture in paint.  It is on Ebay HERE.

Here is another from our trip to Douthat State Park.  This was actually a full sized road but I like it better as a path.  Really enjoyed that park.

I'm working on a commission and keep forgetting to get some progress photos .  But I've got my camera in hand now.  So back out to the studio I go.

Electric Lines

Hey Friends,  This mini was painted after a walk through the neighborhood.  On Wildwood Rd., right off I81, most of this summer, VDOT, has been sprucing up the pavement or AEP (I assume) has been cutting down trees.  Lots of trees have grown into the electric lines and needed to come down before winter arrived.  They also replaced the poles with taller ones and farther from the road.  They did a great job too.

Of course the old poles with their boxes and cans make a more pleasant painting, so I've got enough photos to last a lifetime.  And we know the birds don't mind perching on new wires.
Still having problems with the DPW sight but you can click HERE for Ebay.

Snow on the Crazy People at the Top of the Hill

Hey Friends,  I painted this late last week from photos I took last year.  This is #6 in an ongoing series about those Crazy People.  There were several before I started this blog and finally had to start numbering them.  I snuck up the hill when I was sure no one was home to get the photos.

This one I finished today.  It is 14 x 7 " and a shallow wrapped canvas.  The sides are blue.  I have decided to put this in my Etsy shop because I have neglected it for so long.  I don't know what happens to me.  Why do I get bored and neglect things for so long??  Why? Why?
Because you are an impatient person.

Tomorrow I will be in Bedford at the Goose Creek Gallery, painting with my Buddies.
Stop in and say HI !

Snow Scape

Hey Friends,  Another small one for EBAY.  This one is framed in a plain black frame, ready for display.  The auction starts at 99 cents.

For some reason (I just sent them a question) DPW has not been pulling my blog posts at midnight like they are supposed to.  Several small paintings have come and gone.  Usually things like this is my fault but we shall see.

Just FYI, my painting buds and I (the Double Line Painters & the link is over there on the right sidebar) will be painting in Bedford at the Goose Creek Gallery this Thursday.  This is a beautiful gallery full of neat, nifty originals so come by and chat with us.  We love company!

Hey Friends,  I've blown it already haven't I?  That's OK, there are NO mistakes or rules with this challenge.  I will try to do some stuff that's way off for me but sometimes LIFE just won't cooperate.
That's when you make lemonade.

PleinAir Painting in Bedford, Va.

Hey Friends,  It's been too long since last post but this has been a crazy summer, year.  Much like the last few.  The painting above was done yesterday while visiting the Wharton Garden beside the #Bower Center in Bedford, Va.  My painting Group, the #Double Line Painters, was delivering the work done for the # "Barns of Bedford " project.

Here is the Ole Gal painting on the first one.  I think I need to lighten the bricks before I post here.  I took several photos as the piece progressed and will let you see them after I finish.

And here is the little #sky painting, started next.  I was a bit tired & lazy so I sat for this one.  Seemed to make it go faster or it could be I've painted tree lines so often, I've got the hang of it now.  This garden had some gorgeous trees.  A couple I've never seen before.  One really large tree w/large pale pods, Judy called a "Kentucky __something__Tree.
I will post the first painting tomorrow I hope.  And details about the exhibit "Barns of Bedford".

Sixteenth in the Pollinator Series "Black Cap"

Hey Friends,  I'm back from Calabash and still trying to catch up.  Had several paintings to pack up and ship from this past week.  Yay!
This sweet little bird is painted on a textured back ground, sort of looks like stucco.
Stuff that I have read says these little chickadee's are one of the easiest to get to eat from your hand.  I still have not tried this, not enough patience yet.  Someday.
This is a beautiful painting and you can bid on it, HERE.

30 Day Challenge "Pollinators"

Hey Friends,  A self imposed challenge !  but wouldn't it be great if every one participated in saving our pollinators?  CLICK HERE to see the painting closer in ebay.
And look below...

I copied this from the latest issue of "Birds and Blooms".  You can see their name and issue at the very bottom.  I don't want to get in trouble for using their image by not giving credit.
Look at # 16
It says Pollinator week is June 16-23.  And visit pollinator.org
Well, when I first read this I was half asleep.  The next day I started preparing for this challenge.  My sleepy memory thought the article said all month.  So now I'm ready to rip for about a month.  I "plan" on posting a pollinator every day on this blog and ebay.
I will be out of town June 8th thru 16th with my plein-aire buddies.  I don't know yet if I'll be able to post anything then.
Thank you for stopping long enough to read and visit. Please check back.
