ORIGINAL PAINTING COLLAGE NEST WITH CHILD

Hey Friends,  I listed this painting a few days ago in my Etsy Shop.  You can check it out HERE.

Just one of my crazy ideas about what this little girl was thinking and doing.

For you experimental artists out there, look in the hair color dept.  and you might find a bottle with 4-5 points on it for hair color to come out.  I think it might be for streaking your hair.  Anyway put very thin acrylic in it to make 4-5 lines at the same time.  Like I did with the nest up there.

I used some scrap book papers too.  And some I painted myself.  And gel with bubble wrap.
'tis a lot of fun !

Thanks for stopping by.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF DRAGON FLY ON SUNFLOWER

Hey Friends,  Recently listed this Sunflower in my ETSY shop.
That is a very handsome Dragonfly, if I say so myself.

Maybe some of you remember that I have a couple of dragonfly models in my studio.  They have a tendency to wander into the greenhouse and then forget how to get out.  So they eventually die.  I save them for my models.  Wouldn't want their death to be in vain, right?

Hope your week has taken a great start.

The MARSH'S OF SOUTH PORT, NC - An original painting

Hey Friends,  Have you ever been to South Port, NC ?  It's just north of Calabash and Calabash is just north of Myrtle Beach.  It's a beautiful piece of real estate.

This 12x12 painting is from South Port.  Name of the road has left me but its just after crossing a bridge.   I have listed this in my ETSY SHOP.

More to come.  Thanks for stopping by.

First Post of 2015 with a look toward Spring

Hey Friends,  Starting this New Year right !  Starting with thoughts of the coming spring.  My GranBabes and I (me especially) are sick of being cooped up indoors.  And its only January.  At least 3 more months of this yuck.
This little painting was a joy to create.  I love to play with the colors of spring.  Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Daffodils, Iris, Tulips all have so many joyful colors, you can't help but be happy when looking at them.
Do you remember swinging on an old rope swing with the wooden seat?  Most of us loved to be twirled until the ropes were wrapped all the way to the top and then pushed, way high and twirling all at once.  Such great fun.
I'm listing some of my untraditional work (such as collages) in my neglected ETSY shop.  CLICK HERE to check it out.  I will still be listing work on Ebay.  It seems the people that shop on Ebay want more straight forward paintings, not so much contemporary.
Everything is an Experiment.

No. 18 in the Pollinator Series and Plein Aire at Evergreen Lavendar Farm

Hey Friends,  Moving on to #18 !  A gorgeous Raven waiting on a branch for a French fry !  This was started on a base of dictionary pages.  Up top left is the dictionary's definition of raven.  This pretty boy is for auction on EBAY, Click here.

But the good news of this day is We, the DLP's finally got to the beautiful "Evergreen Lavender Farm" just this side of Appomattox, Va. on Rt. 460.  Bonnie the owner, said "Sure come on over and paint.  She was happy to see us and a gracious host.

This is my first painting of the day.  I started with a magenta base instead o white canvas.  That is a beautiful pond in the distance.  With rows of lavender between us.

Here I'm pretty much finished.  Made a couple adjustments at home.

And here is one of Bonnie's donkeys.  She said they (there were 2 more hiding) did not like the heat so they hang out in their Donkey House during the day.

Here is a shot of the beautiful Bee Hives.  Can't wait to paint this !  Bonnie said she does not mess with these hives.  She has enough going on with the farm and making lavender products.  And I bought some really heavenly smelling stuff while there.
Check out their website at www.evergreenlavender.com

Sixteenth in the Pollinator Series "Black Cap"

Hey Friends,  I'm back from Calabash and still trying to catch up.  Had several paintings to pack up and ship from this past week.  Yay!
This sweet little bird is painted on a textured back ground, sort of looks like stucco.
Stuff that I have read says these little chickadee's are one of the easiest to get to eat from your hand.  I still have not tried this, not enough patience yet.  Someday.
This is a beautiful painting and you can bid on it, HERE.

"A boy and His Dog"

Hey Friends,  Here is a wee bit of heaven for ya.  We can only dream of such things.  Mostly inspired by the movie "All Dogs go to Heaven".  This fella is swinging with his best friend one last time. Convincing him there is nothing to be afraid of in Heaven.  Click Here for a closer look in Ebay.

And now for what I did today.

I went to "Butts Cemetery" in the Glenvar/Fort Lewis area on Alleghany Rd. here in Salem, Va.  And painted a small sketch for a distant cousin that is to be in this area in April or May doing genealogy research on his ancestors.  Which includes some of mine.  The work he and his sister have done is amazing.  They have such patience.

He wants to visit this cemetery so I thought he might like something besides a photo.  A professional photographer may be able to do this place justice but not me.  And from the looks of that photo above, someone is doing some construction there.  See ya soon Robert.

Day 29 - Right Side of Diptych

Hey Friends,  This is the other half of the diptych, I posted the left half yesterday.
These close ups show you how much texture there is
I used Golden's Glass Bead Gel to form the flowers.  Conventional work for the BumbleBee's.
This is in my Etsy Shop along with the other half.   Click Here.
The last day is almost here.  I think I'll post what I painted at Centerfest  in Bedford, Va.  This is a plein-aire piece and I asked for critiques, so it looks a bit better than the majority of my plein-aire works !  But I'm getting better, slowly.

Thought I'd throw this in at the last second.  For anyone that doesn't know what a diptych is.  And this is before I was finished.   Diptych's hang togather.

Day 28 of Leslie Saeta's 30 Day Challenge ! !

Hey Friends,  This is the left side of a Diptych.  I'll post the right side tomorrow.  They are 12" sq. each.  I scooped a lot of glass bead gel onto the panel and shaped the petals with this gel medium.
In this shot and below, I had made a bumble bee and cut it out so I could move it around the painting to see where the bee's looked best.
The little cup with a lid has my model in it.  Whenever I find a dead BB or a dragon fly, I save them to work from.  It's a lot easier than a photo.

Day 22 of Leslie Saeta's Challenge

Hey Friends,  I must be honest,  this piece of work has not been shown before BUT I didn't paint it yesterday.  I made this about a month ago.  There now you can chastise me.  I made a post here on my blog sometime ago, I will attempt to link to it so you can see that I made the stamps for all of these critters.  I did enjoy carving the stamps and thoroughly enjoyed creating a design to fit them into.  So please leave a comment, tell me what you really think of this.
You can also check some close-ups in my Etsy shop.   Click Here.
