ORIGINAL PAINTING - TWO ROBIN EGGS - NEST #7

Hey Friends,  Something a little different from the Key West Roosters.  A nest my sister found after a storm.  We imagined it was a robin's nest because there were a few pieces of turquoise  shells nearby.

A long format of 6" x 13" painted with acrylics on gessoed mat board.

Hey Friends,  And here is my fifteenth Raven !  It's a long running series.  And he seems a bit rude or self absorbed like his message is more important than yours.  So I gave him the title "HOLD THAT THOUGHT"!

Hey Friends,  A bit of whimsey coming up.  This is my fourteenth painting of Raven's.  I think his title should be "The NOSE".  His beak looks more like a nose, don't ya think?

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF KEY WEST ROOSTER #3 - MR. RI RED

Hey Friends,  While I was sitting at the Home Builders Art Show at the Salem Civic Center today, I painted a couple small guys on matboard.  Busy hands make the day go faster, or keep boredom at bay.  This is the first and I gave him the impressive title of Mr. Rhode Island Red.

Hey Friends,  I came up with a decent title for this one !  How about "3 Amigos"

If they are proper Key West Roosters should they be pirates?  Or Mermen?  Or just drunks?

ORIGINAL PLEIN AIR PAINTING

Hey Friends,  We had such glorious weather here in the little town of Salem, Va. today.   On my way to the post office, I stopped for a bit at the corner of Mill Lane and River Road to paint this beautiful little spot.

Of course this photo doesn't show much, my arm is not long enough!  I enjoyed this time immensely.

And I get to do it again tomorrow in the Sedalia Area of Va.

And then on Friday, I'll be packing up the works again to take to the Salem Civic Center.  The annual Home Builders Show is this weekend.  It is supposed to be a wet weekend, so it will be a good time to come peruse all the vendors.

Hey Friends,  I may be getting back into the swing of  computers.  I find it hard when it's nice outside to stay indoors.  I'm not too disciplined.

Hi Friends,  Been deathly ill for a couple days and I'm sitting up right now so I've gotta post before I cave in.

The painting above was done a few years ago and unearthed recently in a studio clean up.

I was playing with gold leaf at the time.  And the poppies are painted on Masa Rice Paper.  Lots of textures in the background.  Click HERE for the ebay auction.

Hey Friends,  I'm sure you have heard about the little summer retreat the Double Line Painters took at the end of the summer to Douthat State Park.  We enjoyed it so much, we are already looking for the next trip.  The painting above is on Ebay for auction.  Click HERE.

 

The top painting was done from my left side.  I looked to my right and got this view.  You can camp on the land over there.  If you follow the water on around this bend you find the source of the lake water.  A beautiful stream.  I would like to go back and follow that stream.

Hey Friends,  Here is another I found.  This is a reproduction of an original that sold years ago.

This is a plein air piece that I almost finished while still there at Craig's Creek.  To the left, a friend was painting the actual Creek.  A young man had just passed through with 3-4 beautiful little fish he had caught in the creek.  Some form of trout, I believe he said.

Plein Aire Waterside

 

Hey Friends,  Another painting done at Brookside Park next to the Golf Club.  On Williamson Road here in Roanoke, Va.  In this very spot is where all the little kiddies like to play.  They really like to turn over the rocks and find a craw daddy.  The girls let out such piercing squeals and the boys come running. I'm sure most of you know my muse is nature.  Just going outside makes me want to paint.
