TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE

Hey Friends,  Yesterday i almost finished these two pup portraits.  In between working on the commission.  I think I may finished, I'm waiting for a reply from the couple.

These are portraits of MeeMee in her Hawaiian crowns.  I hope the recipients enjoy.

And this is a bad photo of the Madd Roosters but I was trying to get something before it got too dark.

Working on other small gifts now.

Just a reminder that the show at the Jefferson Center will be up through mid. Jan.

And we will be at Goose Creek Gallery in Bedford this Sat. the 12th.  We hope to be outside painting.

Stop in and see all of their gifts made by local artists.

Thanks for stopping in.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AT POTENTIALLY CHIC AND NEXT STEP WITH THE COMMISSION

Hey Friends,  Last night I went with some of the DLP gals to the Holiday Open House at Potentially Chic on Brambleton Ave. here in Roanoke, Va.  It was a very enjoyable event and evening.  I finally found the perfect birthday gift for my sister.!  Really happy about that.  And the jewelry maker, the Velvet Peony, had the perfect gift for a dear friend in Florida !
And the photo above shows one of my paintings in one of their beautiful shop vinyettes. (spell check couldn't even correct this word-so I don't feel too dumb)

AND they sold this painting of mine !!  How cool is that?
They also sold some of the mini rooster blocks.
Thank you Ladies very much.

And lastly I wanted to show you this detail shot I emailed to the couple that commissioned the painting I began showing you yesterday.

I asked what she thought of this and a few more shots.  She replied "the hen looked as if she is wearing a beret and glasses."  I was real puzzled until I got back to the photos I sent her.
The interpretations other people see always amaze me.  I CAN SEE IT now.  But until she said that I never would have seen it.  So now I have some more work to do.  But I'm really happy she told me and I can correct I hope.

More fun to show you tomorrow.

Hope all of you are having a great December so far.

HOLIDAY SHOW RECEPTION AT JEFFERSON CENTER AND A COMMISSION

Hey Dear Friends,  We had our holiday show reception at the Jefferson Center this past Sunday.

A good time we had, talking with our art patrons about the creative process and what their tastes were about also.

I'm a little busy with a commission for a lovely couple here in Virginia.

The top photo is the beginning of blocking in the solid colors.  Bottom is the second step.
Next I will get the field or yard of greens better defined so I can get started on the FEATHERS!!

These guys have to have an attitude.

Hoping that some of you will take the time, tomorrow evening.  To come to Potentially Chic for their Holiday Open House.
We members of the Double Line Painters will be there to share in the fun and talk creativity if you are so inclined.  Should be another great event.  Would love to see you.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF BABY CHICKENS 'FOUR PEEPS"

Hey Friends,  I'm making it through this dreary weather by staying busy with the brushes!

I should slow down long enough to take a few progress shots.  Maybe I'll remember if I tie my brush to the camera.

These little guys are for auction on EBAY -click there.

I'm doing a lot of Ebay work on gessoed matboard. now.  Only because I have so much matboard and it's light weight, cheaper to ship.

If anyone sees something they like but would rather have it on canvas, I can do that.  It will cost a little bit more, of course.  Just let me know.

Have a wonderful week.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF KEY WEST ROOSTER #3 - MR. RI RED

Hey Friends,  While I was sitting at the Home Builders Art Show at the Salem Civic Center today, I painted a couple small guys on matboard.  Busy hands make the day go faster, or keep boredom at bay.  This is the first and I gave him the impressive title of Mr. Rhode Island Red.
Mr. Red is available HERE. and I think this link engages tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a shorter day but I hope to get a few ducks done.

Please stop in and say Hi.

ORIGINAL KEY WEST ROOSTER PAINTING

Hey Friends,  I came up with a decent title for this one !  How about "3 Amigos"
If they are proper Key West Roosters should they be pirates?  Or Mermen?  Or just drunks?
I have a feeling the next one will be difficult again.

This is available on EBAY HERE.

Hope to see you tomorrow at the Home Builders Show at the Salem Civic Center.  We Artist will be in the very back with lots of beauty and inspiration to peruse.

30 Day Challenge

Hey Friends,  Our neighbors way down the road, have a small, city farm of sorts.  My gran-babes love to go there.  They have chickens, ducks, goats, a dog and a pond!
This little painting is acrylic and painted while my babes chased the dog, Rumi.
I took a bazillion photos of their ducks in anticipation of Leslie Saete's 30 day challenge.  So far I haven't done any ducks but hope to be caught up soon.
I'm busy preparing for my favorite art festival in Lynchburg, Va. on the grounds of EC Glass High School on Sat. Sept. 14th.
And today I'm helping with an Ice Cream Social at the Green Ridge Center in Botetout on Rt. 220.
I had better get this posted on Leslie's blog and start packing !

Farm Visit Today

Hey Friends, Hope you are well today. I have emailed a lady in Alabama, twice today. Messages did not get through. I'll try again tomorrow but I doubt if there will be any change in the power situation. Hoping she is alright.

Meanwhile, my GranPrincess and I have had another wonderful day here in the Mountains of SW Virginia. Tornados don't happen here very often. A bad one 2 weeks ago in Pulaski.

My Princess and I have been outside most of the day. We visited our neighbor with the crazy farm, I mean Exotic ! Got a lot of good photo's to paint from. Above is a bunny the Princess chased around for 30 minutes. Kids are persistent. I haven't painted him yet.

Here is a shot of the Peacocks, male & female. Very quiet today. Beautiful. I'll give 'em another go at some point.

AND they have Pigeons ! Didn't know they were around until today. There is a lovely pale with some lavendar touches that would be fun to paint.

And here are some ducks the farmer called "Indian Running Ducks" ?!? I think he said that. They are really prettier than my photo.

Of course you know he has chickens. A neighbor dog killed 6 of his hens. BAD DOG. He bought more and keeps his gate closed now. Always something.
And last but the Best - Look at this beauty. Can't remember what it's called. Can't wait to paint this guy. Look at the red feathers in the tail. Gorgeous bird. His mate is brown. Wouldn't it be nice if they had babies.

Also found out today he's got a Koi pond ! All the rain has made it murky so will have to wait to take photo's.

I'm so sorry for all the folks in the south . Praying for you.

Happy Trails.
