ORIGINAL PAINTING PLEIN AIR IN SALEM CHERRY TREES IN SPRING DRESSES

Hey Friends,  For you Salemites, do you recognize this place ?   I stopped a few times to take photos.

This shot is after I finished a sketch.  I have read your sketch is good IF a truck pulled up and blocked your view, you could still paint from your sketch.   I have not been put to the test yet.

Starting to block it in.

Added the shadows.

Got the trunks in, so now it's the blossums.  And if you are wondering, this is a new panel holder from Carol Marine.  Only used it once, not the easy tool she talks about.  But I probably haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

This little spring time jewel is for auction in EBAY.  CLICK HERE.

ORIGINAL PAINTING ALONG RT. 311, the BLUE JAY HOTEL

Hey Friends,  New one on Ebay - CLICK HERE.  This hotel, the Blue Jay has been right where it is for as long as I can remember.  In fact, if I remember correctly, not long after we moved up here to Virginia, my Mom worked there for a short bit.   I don't think she liked it much and did not stay long.

And I have a photo of that Donut Cloud !  It was there, for real !

Thanks for stopping in.

ORIGINAL SMALL PAINTING WALKING FAT DOG

Hey Friends,  This painting I decided needed a funny title.  So I'm calling it :WALK, Fat Dog".
A man on the greenway exercising himself and his dog decided to walk along for protection.

Today I also changed my artwork at 2nd Helpings Gallery on Williamson Rd. in Roanoke, Va.  I took in 6 new pieces.

The one immediately under my name to the left, is from the Southport-Calabash area of N.C.  The one under it is from PaintBank, Va.  The top on the right side is also from PaintBank.  The long one on the bottom right is a composite of sorts.

These two smaller pieces are views from Goose Creek in Bedford and a tree on Mill Mountain,.
here in SW Va. Blue Ridge.

All looks good there now.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF LAVENDER AND DAFFODILS

Hey Friends,  I just listed this in EBAY and I painted it with my friend, Linda C., in mind.  She wanted to see something with lavender and yellow together.  Of course, everyone knows daffs and lavender don't bloom at the same time, as if that makes any difference.  But I think next time I'll make them yellow tulips.
Anyway, I like this version with the sky.  Love the puffy clouds and my other versions barely had a sky.  So tell me what you think Linda.

ORIGINAL PLEIN AIRE PAINTING IN SALEM, VIRGINIA

Hey Friends,  I was ready because I caught the weather report last night.  Today, Tuesday the 20th of Jan. the temps. went up into the 50's.  The sun was glorious, nice breeze most of the time.  Once, twice it was a full gale.
I went out past Dixie Caverns and turned onto an old familiar road (can't remember name) that goes past the new regional jail.  After the RR tracks is a tiny white church on the left.  Pulled in there to paint this beautiful barn and silo across the road with the mountains in background.
Had to include the white streams airplanes make just as they were.  I'm pretty sure anybody else would tell me that is a design NO NO.    But I have a license that says I can do anything I want with paint.

Went on around to the end of that road and started this one.  It will be finished tonight, I hope.
This is acrylic on Terra Skin.  This new paper is made from stone.  Amazing stuff.  Feels wonderful.
Artists should give it a try.  I found mine at Cheap Joes.

Glad you could stop in.

River Rocks

Hey friends,  This is a small plein air painted last week while playing at the waters edge with my Gran Babes.  I always feel bad when kids have to go back to school and they start this coming Monday.  I realize it's my problem because I hated school.  Not all kids hate school.  I was much happier playing in the water all day, catching craw dads or just laying under the pines, watching the sunlight flicker in the breeze.  Day dreaming about when Roy Rogers and Dale would come to adopt me.  The point is only 2 days left for my Babes to be free to play all day and/or drive me nuts.  Kids can't entertain themselves like we used to.  The only time I get to paint is when I take them to play in the water.

The popcorn is calling.

Just a Reminder about 1 PM and 1:30 PM

Hey Friends, Thankfully it has been raining here in Salem, Va. for a couple days.  A nice slow, steady rain.  We need it.  But a day with NO sun tends to make me lazy.  Uninspired.
So I'm just taking the lazy route and giving anyone that cares,  a reminder that the auctions end on these two plein air pieces soon.
For the one above, CLICK HERE.

Hope your weekend is going just the way you wanted.

Short series from July 28th

Hey Friends,  Posting in the morning while my Babes are busy watching the Toons.  July 28th here in Salem, Va. was a beautiful day.  The sky changed so often I took my gear to the roof of my studio and painted a small one every half hour.  The one above is titled " 1:30 ".  I'm putting all of them for auction in Ebay.  Click HERE for this one.

Here I am on the roof.

Here is the view looking north.  Odd how the sky changed so much.  Looking at the painting you would think it was going to burst out with lightning but the sky wasn't so dark.  But it was.
Honest.
And it was pretty ominous several times.
Thanks for stopping by.

Windflowers and Swinging

Hey Friends,  I really lost track of time didn't I ?  Summer fun will do that.  And can you believe summer is almost gone? !  I have to say this is available in an Ebay auction in this first paragraph because DPW has such NINNY rules.  They cut me off last post 'cuz I didn't follow the rules.

I returned to my sisters last week to get a couple more flower bed paintings done before summer calls it quits.  Plants change from week to week so I could get a new view/painting every week.
This time the windflowers were right on the verge of opening.  I helped them open a bit.  They are the white ones.

And I wanted to show you my little grandson swinging on Sister's giant rope swing.  I pull the tail out as far as possible and he is really high.  Can't tell in this photo 'cuz I was trying for this shot.

Then he swings way out over the flower bed and grins from ear to ear.  They love it.  And they love to go there 'cuz they have 2 dogs !!

Thanks for stopping by and visit again.

Ebay Store re-opened

Hey Friends,  Several years ago I opened a store on Ebay.   I have recently learned from a generous gift from Jack White (he is a Famous artist and author) that I was indeed to impatient.  It takes forever and a bazillion days to have any success on Ebay.  He created a fictional character to paint pictures to auction on the giant.  And he had good success after about a year. !!  A whole year !!

So I'm giving it another go.  First time I only lasted about a month or so.  And was totally ignorant about the words to list, etc.  Hopefully, I have learned from Mr. White (I mean, I hope he's not pulling my leg).

I'm sure I've mentioned sometime in the past that I have a boatload of paintings in my studio to do SOMEthing with.  So this might be a good way to get going.  I'm starting each piece at $.01.
Yes, that's the advice I've been given, so ONE penny it is.

Another thing I'm doing with some of this overstock is sanding and re-gessoing to paint MORE.  I shall be participating in Leslie Saeta's challenge  again this January.  That's 30 paintings in 30 days.

I'm hoping I can list these in my DPW shop and connect to Ebay just like I did for my Etsy shop.
Won't that make my life a bit easier?

So Click here if you want to see what my Ebay listing looks like.  (Fingers are crossed)
