ORIGINAL PAINTING PLEIN AIR IN SALEM CHERRY TREES IN SPRING DRESSES

Hey Friends,  For you Salemites, do you recognize this place ?   I stopped a few times to take photos.

This shot is after I finished a sketch.  I have read your sketch is good IF a truck pulled up and blocked your view, you could still paint from your sketch.   I have not been put to the test yet.

Starting to block it in.

Added the shadows.

Got the trunks in, so now it's the blossums.  And if you are wondering, this is a new panel holder from Carol Marine.  Only used it once, not the easy tool she talks about.  But I probably haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

This little spring time jewel is for auction in EBAY.  CLICK HERE.

ORIGINAL PAINTING LANDSCAPE TRAIL RIDE HORSES AND RIDERS

Hey Friends,  Something a bit different every now and again is the spice of life!  I enjoyed this one a lot.  It's been a long time since I rode trail horses.

When I was a young teenager, we would go to Mr. Taliaferro's farm to play and hope he would let us ride his horses.  He was an important man in the Calvary I was told.

He was a stern old fella and seemed a bit gruff.  He was probably just set in "His Ways" as some of the older folks say.  But he insisted that if we rode the horses we had to get them ready to ride!  We put the pads and saddles and all that stuff on them.  And when we got back we had to brush them and feed and water, etc.

Well, my horse was pregnant.  And I did not know she liked to swell her belly way out so her baby wouldn't get squashed.  I thought the cinch was good and tight.  But besides her trying to scrap me off at every tree she saw, when she relaxed or sucked her belly in, I sort of did one of those circus moves, where you go under the belly still clinging to the saddle.!  It was funny.

And I was mad at the same time.'cuz everyone laughed at me.

Some memories are worth sharing.
This is available at Second Helpings Gallery in Roanoke.

Hope your Trails are Happy.

ORIGINAL SMALL PAINTING WALKING FAT DOG

Hey Friends,  This painting I decided needed a funny title.  So I'm calling it :WALK, Fat Dog".
A man on the greenway exercising himself and his dog decided to walk along for protection.

Today I also changed my artwork at 2nd Helpings Gallery on Williamson Rd. in Roanoke, Va.  I took in 6 new pieces.

The one immediately under my name to the left, is from the Southport-Calabash area of N.C.  The one under it is from PaintBank, Va.  The top on the right side is also from PaintBank.  The long one on the bottom right is a composite of sorts.

These two smaller pieces are views from Goose Creek in Bedford and a tree on Mill Mountain,.
here in SW Va. Blue Ridge.

All looks good there now.

Original Painting Autumn Golden Oak

Hey Friends,  Got another little landscape completed from the same area here in SW Va.  I plucked a beautiful old oak with a ton of gold and crimson leaves from a church lot and put it in the field with my hay bales.  She was pleased with the arrangement.

It snowed and iced more yesterday and then immediately got colder, everything here in Salem is coated in ice.  I can't get out so my daughter is bring my 2 granbabes and they will walk up the hill.  I haven't seen my babes for 2-3 weeks so I'm happy !!

Have a great weekend yourself.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF AUTUMN MAPLES AND HAY BALES

Hey Friends,  For you local guys, I was at Greenhill Park when these hay rolls were new.  I just transported some gorgeous red maples to add some spice to the bales.

It was a beautiful sunny day.  Just barely a nip in the air and an easy breeze.
Mighty nice memories.

Have a wonderful evening.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF LAVENDER AND DAFFODILS

Hey Friends,  I just listed this in EBAY and I painted it with my friend, Linda C., in mind.  She wanted to see something with lavender and yellow together.  Of course, everyone knows daffs and lavender don't bloom at the same time, as if that makes any difference.  But I think next time I'll make them yellow tulips.
Anyway, I like this version with the sky.  Love the puffy clouds and my other versions barely had a sky.  So tell me what you think Linda.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sunset on the Blue Ridge Mountains

Hey Friends,  Another sunset but this time right here at home.  Just down the road as a matter a fact.
Worked from a poor photo and a lot of memory - my favorite way to paint most days.

This painted on a 5x7 canvas panel.  The weather should be warm enough soon for me to get outside and cut some Masonite panels.  I really like to paint on these smooth panels better than canvas.  Yeah, Spring will spring up soon !!
I'm putting this little jewel up for auction in Ebay, Click here for a surprise.

What to do with some older paintings ?

Hey Friends,  I am trying to clear my studio of some older paintings.  Maybe these should go in the fire but then again some people like precision/realism.  I don't remember WHY I choose to paint these.  Maybe they would make a nice gift for a gardener.

You can take a look at Ebay by clicking here.  I think the auction ends pretty soon.

PleinAire at Jetters Farm No. One

Hey Friends, This was painted a while back (don't say anything but I can't remember) when we, me and my painting buddies, called the Double Line Painters of the Blue Ridge, were at Jetters Farm on route 220.  One of their colorful trucks out in the field.  I'm longing for warm days to return so we can go back.  None of us gals are real fond of the freezing temps we have had lately.  WE HAVE been out there painting in the cold and wind, mind you.  But we have grown smarter and don't see the need to torture ourselves too often anymore.
This beaute is up for auction in Ebay, Click here to check it out.
