RECEPTION AT THE GLEBE

Hey Friends,  the Double Line Painters had a reception this evening at the Glebe in Botetourt.
We all squeezed into one shot, which doesn't happen too often.
In case you don't know-starting on the left, Sue, Bonnie, Judy, Mary Ann, Linda.

One little photo of a few small paintings I did for 150 challenge.
We all enjoyed the crowd and the gracious lady that invited us to show, Patricia Huber.
Several of the visitors were artist themselves so  they enjoyed seeing how other artists work.

Glad you could stop by.

the Ice Cream Social at Greenridge last summer

Hey Friends,  Last summer Mary Anne and I set up our display panels and easels inside the huge atrium at the Green Ridge Center off Rt. 220 in Botetourt and had ice cream sundaes at the Ice Cream Social they held for the community.  We painted Plein Aire inside.  One huge glass wall makes you feel like you are outside.  This piece is now up for auction in Ebay.  Click Here to see.

Autumn at Ikenberry Orchard with the Double Line Painters

Hey Friends, Just a quick post to show a bit of the beautiful colors we saw and painted today.  We set up on the huge comfortable porch at Ikenberry's Orchard on Rt. 220 in Botetourt, Va.   They have a vast selection of pumpkins and gourds and mums to decorate with.
And a ton of freshly picked apples of every variety you can think of.  My favorite was called MUTSU !   Totally new to me but I'm going back for more.
Here is that fab porch I mentioned.  This shot was very early in the morning. Starting about 10am, the place was rockin' !   Must have been a thousand people through here buying tons of goodies.  We LOVE this place.   Gwen is a wonderful host and very appreciated.
Go to Ikenberry's very soon, before they run out of apples.

Day 27 of Leslie's 30 day Challenge

Hey Friends,  Second painting from the same place as yesterday.  The Greenfield Center in Botetourt.
Different shape, 8x8 square canvas panel.
If things work out with the Center, Double Line Painters may have a workshop there next year.  We are booked this year.  And a reminder that we, the Double Line Painters, will be showing and painting, Plein-Aire, at Centerfest this Saturday.
Centerfest is Bedford, Va. annual art festival held on the streets of this Historic little town.  The National D-Day Memorial is here, in case you're wondering why that town sounds familiar.
We will be set up on the grounds around Goose Creek Gallery, so come out and visit us.
This painting is also in my Etsy shop.
Check out the DLP blog for upcoming events.

Art Show at Ikenberry's

Hey Friends,  We (the DoubleLinePainters) will be setting up again this Saturday the 13th on the huge porch at Ikenberry's retail store on Rt. 220 in Botetourt.
These photos were taken at our last set-up in April.  This time there will be peaches from their orchards for sale along with our artworks.  Hoping all this rain hasn't been detrimental to the peaches.
Hope you can come by between ninish and threeish.  I know they are not words-Ha.

Beautiful Saturday on the Porch

Hey Friends,  I wish you could have been there with us.  Ikenberry's retail store on Rt. 220 in Botetourt county has a wonderful huge porch with rocking chairs with cushions.  A fabulous place to sit and laugh with your friends and chat with art lovers.   We had quite a few people to browse and chat.
True, most did not come for the art, they were after Ikenberry's beautiful greenhouse plants, such as the Ivy geranium above.  BUT, they did come over and look and chat, so we (the women of DLP's) are encouraged that this will grow into a show to benefit not only us and Ikenberry's but the FFA (Future Farmers of America) at Lord Botetourt High School.
Judy made this sign to display our intentions.  So if you will forward this blog post to all your friends, you will help us build this venue that ultimately will benefit our farmers.

Another shot of the art panels on the huge porch.  Inside this store is a big selection of candy, hand made bread stuff, hand made jellys and preserves and seeds and soaps and much more.
An antique cart right outside of a green house with a few of their beautiful plants on display.  I bought a Dragon Begonia, Lobelia, Blue Salvia,Creeping Zinna and Snapdragons.   All are gorgeous.

Plein Aire Painting with the gang

Hi Friends,  The weather here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of SW Va. has been awesome the last few days.  Warm days and cool nights, birds are busier than we are and certainly prettier.
We took a little trip up or down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Peaks of Otter area and visited Gross's Orchard.  Beautiful place.
We wandered and took lots of photos and drank up the wonderful sunshine (after this long dark winter, the sun showed up just in time to save my sanity).  The naked trees are apples.  They bloom after the peaches.
Here is a close up of a peach. Such a gorgeous pink.
This shot is from Ikenberry's in Botetourt county on Rt. 220.  I like the perspective here.
All of the surrounding farm land and distant mountains just look like a beautiful velvet case a diamond ring would sit in.  Can't wait to see what I can do with my paints. And I must get busy, 'cuz we will be showing our works and painting at Ikenberry's in 2 weeks !!   Yikes!

And here is what Midge, Judy and Linda painted that morning.  Most will need more work at home, in the upper photo.  Mary Anne and mine in the lower photo.  Mary Anne's on the left is pastel and mine are acrylic.  I'm sure we will have these at the Ikenberry show.
