Cathie's Vista in Paradise

Hey Friends,  A great friend that now lives in Florida (she lived in the dreary cold of Ohio and Pa. all her life)  sent me a photo of her little piece of paradise last week !  Did you catch that?  Last week.
Here in SW Va. it was cold and icy.  She had a dream and didn't listen to the nay-sayers or doubters.
Now she lives with flowers, blue skys, and beach walks every day.  No more snow shoveling for her !
Hoping this captures that tropical feel with the alligator clouds, cobalt blue sky and love those palms.

No. 28 of the 30 Day Challenge "Kite Feast"

Hey Friends, Closing in on the end of the month !  Yay!  Leslie always asks "What have you learned?"   All I can think of  is How hard all of this is.  Artists are not your usual kind of worker.  We are so crazy we will slave away into the night and after putting the brushes to bed, we spend another hour trying to get it to look right on a computer . (that's a period)
I know it's not taken from Myrtle Beach but it LOOKS like it could be?  That pretty blue sky !

Day 15 of Leslie Saeta Challenge

Hey Friends, Day 15  and yeah, I know about yesterday.  The dog ate my painting ! ?  This was done here at home not at the beach.  It measures 12" x 9" on a canvas panel that I texturized with acrylic medium and one of those net bags that oranges come in.  It's a bit more pronounced than I intended.

Day 27 of Leslie's 30 day Challenge

Hey Friends,  Second painting from the same place as yesterday.  The Greenfield Center in Botetourt.
Different shape, 8x8 square canvas panel.
If things work out with the Center, Double Line Painters may have a workshop there next year.  We are booked this year.  And a reminder that we, the Double Line Painters, will be showing and painting, Plein-Aire, at Centerfest this Saturday.
Centerfest is Bedford, Va. annual art festival held on the streets of this Historic little town.  The National D-Day Memorial is here, in case you're wondering why that town sounds familiar.
We will be set up on the grounds around Goose Creek Gallery, so come out and visit us.

Trying my Plein-Aire paintings in DPW

Well Hey Again,  I've decided to put some of my plein-aire work into my DPW shop !   I'll never find out if anyone likes them if I don't put 'em out there.  I enjoy painting these so much I would keep doing them no mtter what BUT if I can make a enough money to buy more supplies then I won't get so crabby !!

This is what I assume is a hawks nest, 'cuz it's so far up the tree.  I don't think other birds like to go that high.  Beautiful blue sky with clouds and all the wonderful sounds a plein aire painter is priviledged to hear.
