NO. 3 - SEA SPIDERS

Hey Friends  I think it looks kinda spidery or like logs have intertwined in the water flow.

I have more photos of the process but they just don't show the work involved.  I did get a critique before I was finished, which is the photo above and the additional arm or leg on the left finished it nicely.
The top image was scanned on my Epson scanner (which I love and wish was bigger)  I have to scan in sections and then knit them together in PS.  One of the few things I can do in PS.
The bottom image is from my camera, a Nikon Cool Pix L830,  which I also love.  A gift from a really Kool sister.

Hope you are enjoying all the extra posts and explanations.
I'm enjoying this Challenge more than the past challenges,  BUT it's only day 3.

Traces of 2016 - #2 in 30 Day Challenge

Hey Friends,  Doing blog posts at 9pm can really tax my brain.  I should be spacing out in front of the TV.
"Traces of 2016" is my final decision for a title.

Maybe you did not read my first post of Saeta's 30 day challenge, which was just yesterday.  But my theme is Black and White with pizzazz from Pantone's Top 10 Colors for 2017.  So above are Greenery and Primrose Yellow and mixed on the table they made a PooPoo yellow.

So had to get out their Flame Something.  I wanted a more Rust color and the Flame didn't do it so I just added some Quin Gold.

This is the final, using the PooPoo Yellow and Flame and Greenery.
But you do see I started with a Black and White Base.

This is available at my Website HERE or if you want a print from FAA HERE.

JANUARY 1, 2017 HAPPY NEW YEAR DAY ONE

Hey Dear Friends,  HERE we go - - - it's on again!  Leslie Saeta's 30 day challenge that is.  I think I already told you my theme this month is Black and White with the addition of Pantone's Top Colors for 2017.
And since there are NO rules, I can mix these colors to make more colors, YaY.

And I found some new "TOOLS" at Marshalls, in the kitchen department.

SINK MATS - - - who would have thought to look there.  Just us crazed artists.

Already put them to work on some future challenge paintings.  Since I have a small life outside of work, I have to start early.
I know seems like I'm cheating but I'm NOT, 'cuz there are NO rules.  So what's your excuse for not joining in?

HAPPY NEW 2017 ALMOST HERE

Hey Dear Friends,  Are you ready for a another New Year?  Seems like we just rang in 2016, doesn't it?

I'm pretty sure I have heard the OLD folks say "the older ya get the faster the years go by".  Now I believe that's true.

Here is a little prayer that we all achieve what we truly want in 2017.
Truly.

And here is a toast to our health and happiness.

And a great big thank you for supporting the arts.

JELLIES - IN THE MAKING

Hey Friends,  This was easy and hard at the same time.  Hard because of all the tiny marks.

Easy because it was a pretty simple composition.

Hard because I had to remember to stop and take photos.

I'm hoping it looks float-y to you.

This is a 16x20 worked in acrylic.
I have several pieces now that need to go to onto my website.  Once my Babes go home I SHOULD HAVE  the time.

I'll be back soon.

Process/Progress of "Being Loved Deeply"

Hey Friends,  More progress shots !  I feel like someone should pat my head and say "Good Girl"
Above, on a 24" x 12" canvas that I had stained sometime before, I put some texture paste on pretty thick in some areas.

Had to wait a couple days for the thick stuff to dry.  Then added a bit of color, not sure where it was headed.

I love burgundy so that got me started.

Then touches of more primaries, thalo blue and yellow.

Then mixed the blue, yellow for green and made some drips.
I know some people don't like drips but I do for some reason!  And I love splatters too!
Please tell me if you think I carry them too far.

I like circles and squares too.  Maybe I can use them next, if I remember to be a "Good Girl".

Having a great time finishing out this year and hope you are too.
But if you can, make it go a bit slower.

POND IN PEARISBURG

Hey Friends,  I remembered again to take progress shots, this is just a couple of them.
I have a photo of the wonderful pond in Pearisburg, Va. on my Chrome Book.

A closer look at the water lilies.  They were not in bloom at the time I took the photo.

That is a bridge way in the distance.

The Koi are another figment of my imagination but they fulfilled their purpose.

There were lots of reflections and sky patterns in the water.

Here is the final piece at 24" x 18".  The colors are very true.
This is available in my website, www.suefurrow.com .

I love process shots on other people's blogs and hope you enjoy them too.

Please feel free to comment.

BROKEN WORDS LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Hey Friends,  I remembered to take process shots, YAY!!  I took a lot more than this but did not want you to leave bored.  I started this 24" x 24" piece as usual, trying to feel my way thru.

Even went so far as the gravel road and grass.  Looking pretty mundane at this point.

I taped some plastic over it and tried a couple thoughts and was confident enough to continue.

And this is what I ended up with.  Another YAY !!  I like it and it's abstract enough for me.  If you click on the image, you should get a larger version and maybe you can see the words.

This way of painting or maybe I should say this process, takes longer to complete.  For me it does, but the greatest reason I paint to start with is the process.  Not because of a technique or the finished product but for the process.  It is like meditation, I can be lost for hours.  And enjoy every minute.

Comments are welcome.

I BELIEVE THIS ONE IS DONE

Hey Friends,  Only one photo of the process.  I need to kick myself for forgetting this so often.

I decided to call this "Blue Streak".  Doesn't look like the same painting does it?  It is the awkward angle on the beginning photo.  It measures 12x24.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this new direction for me.

More coming up, bear with me.
