AUDACITY IS MY NEWEST PAINTING FOR THE 30 DAY CHALLENGE

Hey Friends,  Title of this one is AUDACITY which means willing to take risks or rudeness.
This looks like both ! Willing to take some rude risks.

This has been listed on my WEBSITE and on the 30 Day Challenge.
There is only about 9 days left !  If you ever want a month to go by super fast, take on a 30 day challenge and post what you did every day.  The month will disappear.

Abnormally warm here in SW Virginia, so I need to get outside and sling some paint.

Hope your day is Fantastic.

A WAVE OF JELLY FISH - 30 in 30 CHALLENGE

Hey Friends,  This is a 16" x 20" on canvas, varnished and wired, ready to hang.  Would look really good in a floater frame.  I told my little story about this piece on my WEBSITE.  Click there and read all about it.

I also posted it on Leslie Saeta's 30 Day Challenge BLOG.

Hope you are not getting bored with abstracts.  Very soon, my paint group, the DLP ' s will be back outside to capture the beauty of SW Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

GOING THE DISTANCE - #30 DAY CHALLENGE - DAY 15

Hey My Friends,  I must of been a bit weary or a bit inspired when I thought of this title.

Goes really well in this kitchen, don't ya think??  Make sure your painting has a couple good coats of varnish before hanging in a kitchen or bathroom.
This painting is available HERE on my website and you can see it HERE on Leslie's challenge blog.

"WHERE IS HE FROM" - Day 12 in 30 Day Challenge

Hey Friends,  I think this looks masculine, Do you?  I still think women could like it but I can see it in a man's office.  Maybe for the search engines, I should describe this a little bit.
I can not remember for sure but I think the majority of the dark areas have MARS VIOLET by Golden and probably a bit of ultramarine blue by NOVA.  Then using squirt bottles (like you put ketchup or mustard in) I squiggled the turquoise and then white and some red and a tad of yellow.

This can be found on my website HERE and it will be posted on Leslie's blog HERE.

No.7 in the 30 DAY CHALLENGE - IT WAS ALL A DREAM

Hi Friends,  This is Day 7.........of the 30 in 30 Challenge.  So far no problems.  I was almost confused for a minute this evening about which day it was.  My brain is usually fried by 9pm.

"IT WAS ALL A DREAM" hanging in someones kitchen.

Anytime you would like to express your opinion of my new direction in creating art, just jump in.

No. 6 in the 30 DAY CHALLENGE - FESTIVE GUACAMOLE

Hey Friends,  This was an easy one to find a title for.  Just looks like a festival don't you think?
Who can have a festival without guacamole?  Not me !

Love those colors!!  I can see it in a natural colored frame.
I'm really enjoying this challenge.

30 in 30 CHALLENGE - #5 WEDNESDAY'S MORNING

Hey My Friends,  Wednesday's Morning is No.5.   Playing still with colors and drips and purposeful marks with a brush.  Almost looks like Fish Kisses up there !

I love being able to put my art on a wall virtually.  Gives it scale and a sense of worth.
My friend Judy sent this link to me if you want to try it out.
And here is a link to this painting on my WEBSITE.

30 in 30 CHALLENGE - RUSHING HOME

Hey You All,  This painting looks kind of springy to me, probably 'cuz of the greens.  It is raining snow and probably ice right this minute here in SW Virginia.  This painting is a real contrast to what I see outside.  You will find this on my WEBSITE or in DT Roanoke at Gallery 202.

This was created specifically for this challenge and it was another lesson in my journey to the abstract side of my brain.  Would be nice to hear from my friends what they think of this journey.  Even if you don't especially like abstract art, you should still have an opinion as to how it makes you feel  The colors of anything should have an effect on you.
So don't be shy, unless you are extremely mean, you won't hurt my feelings.
I LOVE doing these works so I'm not gonna stop.

Hope your winter day is happy for you.

TUESDAYS CALM #3

Hey Friends,  This is No. 3 !  February is rolling right along, and I'm surprised I have made it this far.
I must say I did not paint this today.  It was several Tuesdays ago.  It does not have the looseness I have achieved already .  (I'm patting myself on the back)  Understand I'm not there yet but I have made some good strides in getting looser.

This piece is painted on a 20 x 16 canvas instead of paper.  It has been varnished and is ready to hang.
You will find it HERE ON MY WEBSITE.

Have a great weekend.

30 IN 30 FEELING FLUID

Hey Friends,  Hope Ground Hog Day is going your way.  I'm posting my 30 in 30 Challenge paintings every day apparently.
When I was working on this one with Transparent Iron Oxide and Indigo the paint was moving so freely this title is what came to me.  The WC Paper was gessoed so the paint would not sink in immediately.  This gives you more time to play and I like the way the paint sits on top.

Now I will go to Leslie Saeta's blog page to attempt to load this work.  And I will link it here to my website.

30 in 30 CHALLENGE

Hey Friends,  I might have to post each days painting on my blog.   I wanted to add the link to my website but last night it would not work for me but I haven't given up yet.
I've never done this challenge connecting to my website instead of blog so it may not work.

This work is on Strathemore WC Paper that is gessoed.  And it's acrylics.  And you can turn it vertically or horizontally.

See you tomorrow!

No.30 in 30 Day Challenge - " HOMEMADE GOLD"

Hey Friends,  This really did start life as a black and white page out of a scrap book paper pad.  Just rubbed a gray acrylic all over and then added the faux gold leaf.  I made a post earlier in January and told you I wanted to see how gold paint acted on deli paper.  I like it and love how easy it is too handle as opposed to real gold leaf.  See it HERE.

Added a bit of brushwork, some spattering, a dribble and "thar she be".

One more day!

Thanks for looking.

No.27 in the 30 Day Challenge - LAUREL

Hey Friends,  Wanted you to see this one because I took a few process shots.  As you can see above, it really did start off as black and white (that was supposed to be my theme for this challenge)

And then I started braying (is that a word?) on some pale aqua.

And then here, I got out the alcohol ink.

And the finale!  painted the donut shapes, cut some sticks and stamped on some circles and finished off with scribbles.  "Tis FUN.
Some pieces just seem to take own their own attitude and help you with the details.
Some are nothing but a struggle from the get go.

No.26 in 30 Day Challenge - SHEETROCK

Hey Friends,  Again I forgot some process photos.  There really wasn't much to show anyway.  Used some of the tape stuff they put on sheet rock and cut out some circles of it and scribbled circles around the circles with acrylic markers

Yep, It's an ODD one.

This Challenge will soon be over and I think I will miss it a little.  But I also feel like I'm ready to move on to something bigger.

No. 25 in the 30 Day Challenge - PURPLE MOONS

Hey Friends,  It is Day 25 !!   This piece has been sitting there looking at me for a week.  I finally added what you see below.  One small purple moon.

Sent the image to a friend for a critique.  She thought I needed a more obvious focal point.  DUH.....How obvious can it get.

So after another couple days, I changed the one purple moon to white and cut out 2 larger purple moons.  Not sure they are what it needed but there she is in all her glory for ALL to snicker at.
In the end I think she will make some good collage pieces for other works.

Thanks for stopping in.  Hope Mother Nature is being kind to you.

NO.24 in the 30 Day Challenge - ' DONUTS'

Hey Friends,  I'm tickled with how this one turned out.  I started with the cut out circles and it occurred to me then, that they could be donuts.

Then the red swirly thing looked like an old fashioned stove burner which lead to the HOT COFFEE.

This has been a fun ride and hope you have gotten a spark or two out of it.

If not, just go to You Tube.  That ought to get your motor going.

Until tomorrow,

No.23 in the 30 Day Challenge - WHITE DAISYS

Hey Friends,  Here is my latest experiment.  Using my new acrylic markers.  It feels a bit like going back to childhood days of coloring in the lines only.  Out lining the leaves gave it an entirely new look  And I like the worn out use of alcohol spots.

Have really enjoyed all my studio time but still anticipating painting out doors.
