FANTASTIC DAY TO BE OUTSIDE PAINTING

Hey My friend,  Hope your part of the world is as lovely as here in SW Va. in the Blue Ridge Mtns.  This is Mason's Creek, which is pretty close to I81 and at the intersection of Rt.311 and Rt.419.
It is a beautiful creek but too chilly to get in right now.  My GranBabe, Nic waded and threw stones.  He was very patient while I painted.  He is my art critic too.
This is the scene I chose.  Let me express my frustration with moving water.  Don't believe I will ever get it onto a canvas.  I think I'm aware of my limits but I will try again.  Sooner than later.
Didn't have to wear a face mask out here thank Heavens.  A couple of people came by and we chatted and I never even thought once about social distance and masks.  Slow learner, I guess.

Hope all are well and happy.

BELLA'S NEIGHBORHOOD

Hey My Friend,  I decided to start a short series that will be called "Bella's Neighbor Hood".  I spent 3 months with my new GranBabe  after she came home.

And several walks happened.  One, Bella tried out her new stroller and her Mom came along.  Took lots of photos.
It is an older neighborhood with lots of tidy yards and some not so tidy.  And lots of sheds and dogs and old vehicles.
This is my favorite paintings so far.  Love the blooming Rhodi

Hoping to be at the Tea House in Salem tomorrow to plein air with a couple of buddies.

MILKWEED AND DANDELIONS - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING

Hey Friends,  At some point in your life, I bet you have been traveling on an old country road, maybe with fences, pastures, cows and you have seen milkweed and dandelions growing prolifically !
Usually there are grasses and Queen Ann's Lace thrown in to.
I think these weeds are pretty.  I don't see enough of them which means I probably need to ride around in the country more often.

This is painted with acrylics on 14" x 11" WC Paper that was coated with gesso to start.
It is available on my website  HERE.

Hoping your weekend is going your way.

GREAT DAY FOR PLEIN AIR AND A WORKSHOP

Hey Friends,  Busy time of the year, right?
Have you gotten your Babes already for school?
Linda and I don't have to worry about that anymore, our Babes are all grown with Babes of their own.
So Thursday we went to South Peak, here in Roanoke, Va. and painted from inside an empty/under construction Home unit on the top floor.  With the windows and door open it was almost like being outside.  We wanted a little plein air practice because our event at South Peak will be here before you know it.

And I want to remind you there is still time to sign up for the "NO BRUSHES WORKSHOP" at the LAC.

Go.....Do it Now....And I'll see you there.

SATURDAY - PAINT OUT AT SOUTH PEAK

Hey Folks,  Not many of you wanted to come play in the rain.  Can't blame you, this kind of weather is really good for sleeping.  It is still beautiful, in my opinion.  Look at that view.!

Suzanne Ross, above, came to play with her watercolors. above.
NO kin to Bob Ross, haha.

And Ms. Suzy came with her oils, above.  The rain blew in sideways and got everyones stuff wet.

Here is Linda, smoozzing with Dana Phillips.  He gave a demo earlier that I missed, dang it.

This is his demo and it really looks much better in person. My colors are off.  It is 581 and/or 220 at Tanglewood.  He made such a common, drab view, beautiful

Then on my way home, I stopped at the Greenway along the Roanoke River in Salem, to show you how it looks like the Great Muddy Mississippi, when this full.  It has covered the walkway!

Such a beautiful place we live in.

Very thankful Hurricane Matthew did not cause any more damage than it did.  It spared most of the people and homes along Florida's coast.  I have a dear friend in the Ormond beach area, that I was very worried about but she only lost a few trees and palms and some of her roof.  Of course, she has a mess to clean up but she and her fur babies are safe.

I'll be back with another report on the SoPeak Paint Out tomorrow.

Everyone has a pleasant evening and thanks for stopping in.

"God Reveals Himself thru Nature" - 18" x 24" Oil Painting

Hey Friends,  "God Reveals Himself thru Nature" was penned by John Muir.  He is a fav of mine.
This scene is something I see often these days.  This is Rt. 460, west of Salem, Virginia near the famous DIXIE CAVERNS and also one of the routes to the famous Va. Tech. Hokies.

There have been plenty of weather systems blowing through our area this spring.  Lots of dark clouds like this and NO end in sight.

Please check it out at my new website HERE.

And check my new blog - I'm getting used to it  HERE

STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY AHEAD

Hey Friends, Here is one of my favorites.  And I'm pretty sure it's because of that beautiful sky!  Maybe that colossal cloud has a bit to do with it.

Created from a couple different photos in the studio.

It is 18" square, another fav is the square format, and varnished and wired, ready to hang.
The deep sides are black.

Check it out on my new website HERE.
After that look at my new blog HERE.
