LEXINGTON,VA. ART ON THE GREEN

Hey Friends, A quick post about the small art festival in DT Lexington yesterday.  One photo of Jefferson St. just to give an idea of the sweetness of this little town.

Shot above of a Double Line Painter, Judy Lochbrunner accepting her award for Best in Acrylic.

And two old friends above.  Nancy Stellhorn on the right and Susan Egbert on the left and she won the Best in Show award.

It was a lovely day (hottest so far in 2017) and I enjoyed chatting with a lot of friends I had not seen in a long while.

CHAMBER NIGHT AT GOOSE CREEK STUDIOS IN BEDFORD,VA.

Hey Friends, A quick note to let you see what I did last night with the DLP's.

We went to Bedford, Va. to support Goose Creek Studio's and help entertain.

First we stopped at the Wharton Garden, one of the prettiest parks in the region.  It is between the library and the Bower Center.

A long shot of the other DLP's.

Then to the Goose Creek Gallery-Studios (back view) to finish our paintings and chat with the visitors.  Several of the studio artists were set up and working and entertaining also.

One shot of the DLP wall with a couple pieces of my work.
We all had a good time and got to eat dinner at a favorite restaurant "the Bella".
We ended the evening when a little rain came through.  But then it rained all the way home.  Linda and I were thankful it was still daylight, we HATE driving in the rain at night.!

I will be at the Lexington Art Show Sat. morning and hope to see you there.

ART ON THE GREEN in LEXINGTON, VA.

Hey Friends,  Just a couple days to go ...... then I will see you at the Rockbridge Arts Guild show in Lexington, Va. this Sat. 29th of April.
I guess it's pretty obvious I don't do very many street festivals anymore ('cuz that's all I've posted about this week).  I'm having a knee replaced next week so maybe I will be agile once again.   Maybe enough to participate in more shows again.

This piece above is another favorite theme of mine, BONFIRES.  And decided the title is "Marshmallow Moon".   I have painted 3-4 others that sold, and hoping to get a few more finished for this show and to take to the Little Gallery at Smith Mountain Lake.

Please stop and say HI and sign up for email posts.  You will be entered for a drawing for a FREE painting.

PLEIN AIR AT GREENHILL PARK IN SALEM, VA.

Hey Friends,  Right this minute I can hear thunder and rain !!  A drastic change since this morning at Green Hill Park in Salem, Va. along the Roanoke River.

I usually take a million pictures every spring of the Mertensia (Va. Blue Bells) along the banks of this river.  Not this year, too late, the wild phlox is blooming now.  And I have felt really under the weather with all the allergies and colds that's why I missed the mertensia  and why I didn't feel like painting this morning.

I just took my sketchbook and made several little studies that I should paint from right away before the memories fade.

You can go to the DLP blog to see a couple little videos I made of the other gals painting.

It was a beautiful morning and the sun made me feel better.

ORIENTAL CHERRY - SPRING SENSATIONS ART EXHIBIT

Hey Friends,  Bee's are a favorite subject of mine, I've painted many of them.  The bumble bee more than others.  Probably because I have more models of them than any others.

Here is what she could look on a wall in anyone's home.  Original works of art have a quality that you will never find in a print or a canvas reproduction, no matter what any one tells you.  Of course you need them side by side to see what I mean.  Of course there are better repro's made at some facilities, such as Fine Art America, and you can get a print of this painting there.
Or you can go to my website and buy the Original there.  Or you can go right now to 2nd Helpings Gallery in Roanoke and purchase it right off the wall !

Thank you for visiting

STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY AHEAD - EXHIBIT AT 2ND HELPINGS

Hey Friends,  One of my most favorite things to paint is the sky.  The big puffy clouds, the long skinny dark clouds of storms, of sunsets.  I could still lay on a blanket and watch them go by but you know how adults are.  No one wants to waste time, no one wants to appear lazy.  No one would consider that a meaningful use of time.  I'm thinking maybe the next time I go to plein air, I will just take a blanket and a camera.

Ya never know, maybe I will capture some glorious clouds on film for future paintings.
I would never consider that a waste of time, if I wound up with another painting I love, like the one above.

She is available to grace your home at my website HERE.
Or prints are available HERE.

Have a lovely week.

VASES - SPRING SENSATIONS ART SHOW

Hey Friends,  I'm shaking it up here.  The photos aren't in their usual places.  And that's only 'cause they would not move to the places I wanted them.

Both of these paintings are in the SPRING SENSATIONS SHOW
at 2nd Helpings Gallery on Williamson Rd. in Roanoke, Va.

And a room photo showing how goofy they would look on these big walls.  The one above is a 24" x 12"  and below is 20" x 10".
Besides some really handsome ART you will find gently used furniture and glass items and gently used clothing, some of it still has the original sales tags.  And childrens stuff and mens.  And of course their famous cafe, with fantastic foods and sweets.

These two paintings were created with painted papers, ribbon, lots of gel
and mark making tools I found everywhere.  And of course lots of acrylic
paint.  And being vertical, it should be easy to find wall spaces for them to fit.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend
and a Happy Easter.
Hug all your bunnies tight.

SMOKE OVER OUR VALLEY - ORIGINAL LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Hey Friends,  It's over whelming so I'm trying to make some room in my studio.  If I think a painting has some merit, I will offer it on Ebay as the last channel.  This was started on Mill Mountain, back when Wytheville was suffering with a lot of brush fires.  The wind blew the smoke into our valley and it sat there for a day and an evening.

This painted with oils and is 10" x 19".  This is a nice hand made frame and is not the garrish gold seen in the photo.  It has a softer golden look.

It is up for auction HERE on Ebay.

PINK BOXWOOD - ORIGINAL MIXED MEDIA PAINTING

Hey Friends, The DLP's installed the new show "SPRING SENSATIONS" at 2nd Helpings Gallery in Roanoke on Williamson Rd.  This painting is hanging in the show along with a few more I will post about soon.

This is how it started it's life.  I gelled some quotes and words on to an 18x24 deep canvas along with a few pieces of hand colored papers.

I kept adding papers in the blue sky and the green grassy areas.

Here is a close up of one corner and maybe you can see some of the verbiage.  You can click on the image to make it bigger.

And here is what it would like hanging on your wall.  It is varnished and wired and ready to hang.
Shipping is free in the continental US.
It is available at my website FASO.
Repros and pillows and such are available at FAA.

Hope to see you at 2nd Helpings Sat. the 8th from 1-3 for our reception.  We will be painting and visiting with you.
