ORIGINAL PAINTING OF EVERGREEN LAVENDER FARM IN APPOMATTOX, VA.

Hey Friends,  Yesterday I posted a bigger lavender painting.  It is 11x14 and in my Etsy shop.  It was a lot of fun to paint with a natural sea sponge so I made a smaller version  at 5x7 for EBAY.

And after that please CLICK HERE to see what the Roanoke Valley's visitors blog posted a couple days ago.  Scroll down a little past the map and look for Double Line Painters Logo.
Pass it on to your friends and family.

ORIGINAL PAINTING FROM MEMORY AND SKETCHES

Hey Friends,  Hope all of you are having a good week.  Especially my local friends !  Can you believe we are supposed to get more of this white stuff tomorrow ? !  And for my friends down there in the south, I'm riddled with jealousy, but still happy for you.

The little jewel above was painted from some memories conjured up from my sketch book.  Sitting on the river bank watching my Babes wade in the water and pick up precious jewels.  Or Sea Shells (you know they were those tiny little snail houses).

She is up for auction in Ebay, CLICK HERE.

I'll be snowed in again so look for more to come.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF SHEPHERD AND FLOCK

Hey Friends,  Posting a few extras today, just to let you know I've had a good time painting while being snowed in !
Almost all have been painted on gessoed mat board or Terra Skin (paper made from stone-no trees!) so they can be matted and shrink wrapped for a flip bin at Goose Creek in Bedford, Va.
The sheep are in EBAY - Click Here.

These will go to Goose Creek for a while.

If they don't sell there, I may save for the Lynchburg Festival.

I'm trying as hard as I know how to change my method of painting.  I want to be (always have) looser, more impressionistic.  It will take a long time I'm afraid.

It's just my nature to be nit picky with details.  I'm afraid people won't understand or be able to tell what my subject is.  I think if I explain for them, they will get it.
The worst habit an artist can have.

Thanks for stopping in.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF SPRING TREES AND DAFFODILS AT A POND

Hey Friends,  A spring time bit of sunshine.  My neighbor's pond with the redbud trees blooming and a weeping cherry tree with narcissi blooming.
The ducks were hiding on the far bank.
Can't wait to get back out there !!

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF FOGGY MORNING

Hey Friends,  I'm no longer snowed in......Dratts..........Now I feel squirrelly.  Like someone is going to expect me to come visit.  Like my painting time isn't important.
Other artists know how I feel.

Yesterday I painted the one above.  It was one of those that painted itself.  All I did was load the brush for it.

ORIGINAL LANDSCAPE PAINTING - GARRETT'S FARM IN THE SPRING

Hey Friends,  Continuing on with that Spring Time feeling, here is a very embellished view of Garrett's Farm in the Glenvar section of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of SW Va.  Whew, what a mouth full.
The crab apples are not that intense shade of pink as you well know.  But aren't they pretty?

On EBAY - CLICK HERE.

Original Painting - Dragon Fly No. 23

Hey Friends,  I painted ALL day again !  That is about the only good thing I can say for snow.  Can't get out and nobody can get in.   So I can just keep on with the acrylics.
Really have enjoyed it.  Only finished 3 today.  Had to scrub number 4.  So ugly.
The Dragonfly is for auction on EBAY.

I like this one a lot right now.  Paint Bank Bison #2.  These paintings look so much better in person.  I feel my monitor is really off.  Or maybe it's my scanner.  I need to go use someone else' computer to check what they look like to you.
I haven't decided what I'm going to do with this one yet.

ORIGINAL ART OF DOUTHAT STATE PARK NO. 12

Hey Friends,  Today is Sunday and it has been close to zero for a couple of days now here in the SW Mountains of Virginia.  The weather reports say we are going to get a ton of snow starting in the morning.  I feel really sad for the little birds and their skinny little legs.  Hope they make it.

So this day was spent on the couch in front of the TV painting little 5x7's so I wouldn't lose my mind.
I painted from photos taken at Douthat State Park (that's no. 12 above) and a very embellished scene from Garrett farm and a foggy morning at the Crazy People on the Hill and a Dragon Fly on a flower just to make me happy.
The No. 12 above is available in a Ebay Auction - CLICK HERE.

Please come back. I will post the other little guys here tomorrow.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OLD WALNUTS ON GUM SPRINGS

Hey Friends,  A horizontal landscape painted a few months ago en plein aire.  I tweaked it last week and finally decided it was finished.  This is the little sprout of water that is basically drainage from all the mountains around us.  It usually dries up in the summer unless it's a very wet season.
Soon it will be time to go there again - YAY!!

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF UTILITY LINES CUTTING THROUGH HOGG MOUNTAIN

Hey Friends,  I spent the entire day light hours cutting picture frame moulding.  I made it through about half of my stock.  And that equals about 20 various sized frames.

A couple days ago I finished two pieces in the Utility Series.  Hogg mountain is here and I'll post Traveling to the Sun tomorrow.

Gotta spread them out !!

NOW I CAN SHOW YOU THE COMMISSION I'VE BEEN WORKING ON

Hey Friends,  Happy I can now show you ONE of the commissions I've been working on.  Installed it yesterday.  When you get to the end of this post It should make a little more sense.

The very first sketch.  Looking for the perspective of the figures.  Made lots more sketches but don't want to bore you to tears.

This shows a paper doll type cut out of the star taped to board.  Looking for the correct size.
Notice the first little color sketch to the right.

Here it is on the easel.  Can you make out the star?

The close up. Getting to the figures next !

A close up of the girl.  I love the high lights on both heads of hair.

Close up of the bling on the stars.  If you click on any image it will be enlarged.  The glitter stuff actually can be seen with the lights above .

Close up of the wild flowers and bees.  These little flowers made a big difference overall.

Here it is installed.  Isn't that the greatest idea.?!  A window left as is on the interior.  It used to have a view before the remodel.  The owner wanted it to stay and had this vision of the faux view.
I think it is one of the most unique paintings I've ever done.  LOVE IT.
Of course it looks better in person.  My camera does a poor job.
And did you notice the two spot lights at the top that catches the sparkly stars?

On the wall opposite the star is this Bumble Bee she bought several years ago.  You can't tell the scale but it's large and looks great with the room.

This was another commission for the same wonderful couple.  Made for the bathroom at their lake home.  Another one of her imaginative dreams.  The bubbles were so much fun.
I believe in a former life she was an artist herself.

The end of a very long post.  Hope you enjoyed this short little journey through a few weeks of my life.  All of these images help make winter more bearable.

I do thank you Lord for couples like this pair.

"FRIENDS AND LOVERS" ORIGINAL COLLAGE PAINTING

Hey Friends,  A painterly collage !  The sheet music under the Blue Bird is titled "Friends and Lovers".  So that seemed the perfect title.  This type painting , for me, is harder than straight painting.  It takes more time and experimenting.  You just keep trying stuff until something works.
I enjoy this manner of creation but IT IS harder.

This babe is in my ETSY shop.

Have a great Friday.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF UTILITY POLES ALONG A TYPICAL ROAD

Hey Friends,  Continuing with the Utility poles we see every where.  Basically just adding the touch of man to the beautiful landscapes God made for us.  If we didn't have these gorgeous poles every where, we wouldn't be reading this or typing about it, right?
It's enough to make our hair stand up !
