PANTONES COLOR OF THE YEAR

Hey Friends,  Just got an email from Pantone and they have picked this color for 2019.
LIVING CORAL
One of my favorite colors.
It is a warm color and I normally like cooler colors but it reminds me so much of the tropics and flowers and grapefruit and peaches, Luv It.

I assume the various shades or tints above are acceptable as the color of the year.

So I believe I will get busy with some paintings with this color in 'em!!

Have a safe snowy weekend.

SOME ART SALES, MAYBE CHRISTMAS GIFTS

Hey Friends, I was going to show you 3 that have sold in last couple weeks but I can't find the other 2 on my computer.  I will not waste anymore time hunting.  Wish I could think of a better way to keep up with inventory.
The sweet Moma above and her Babe have found their forever home in Tenn.  Hope her new owners will send a photo of it hanging in their house.

Have a good week and enjoy the snow headed our way.

WHEN I GOT HOME = ORIGINAL EXPRESSIVE ABSTRACT ART

'WHEN I GOT HOME" refers to the mess a puppy can make when left unattended too long.  Imagine her in your studio, chewing up your favorite papers or brushes or maybe even a tube or two of paint.  Mardi Gras Pup

What do you think of the colors I used in this piece?

I have it shown in the two different directions, horizontal & vertical.
Which do you like the best?

This is available on my website HERE
Thanks for your suggestions

THE WINTER WINDS

Hey Friends,  I'm interrupting the stream of painting posts to show you what happened last night.
I had just gotten home from a PAR meeting, was changing clothes and I heard some BIG noises and glass breaking.  A couple more thuds and all was quiet.

We were very lucky, it could have been so much worse.
I'm standing in the window with the broken glass taking this photo.  Looks like a giant poplar and an Oak.  I assume all the rain we have had this year weakened the roots and then these stiff winds came thru last night.

You guys have a great day.

NEATLY TIED - ONE OF A KIND ABSTRACT

This is one that just would not reveal it self to me.  So I'm calling it NEATLY TIED.  of course you can always give it a new name if you adopt it.
I love the colors and the swirls and that little string that ties it all together.

Would look really KOOL in a floater frame at the end of a hall.

It is available HERE

CANDACE CANDY - ORIGINAL ABSTRACTED STILL LIFE

CANDACE is the name of a lady that has a farm, along with her family, in Buchanan, Va. called Beaver Dam Farm.  It is a dairy farm and to keep their life on this dairy farm they had to add AGRO tourism to their duties.  So they started planting sunflowers and it grew from birdseed to a festival !  That is now very well supported by the community.  The festival had a hard time in 2018 because of the weather.  It has been one of the rainiest summers ever here in SW Va.  But I know it will do just fine in the future.  Go check out their FB page and you will see what I mean,
https://www.facebook.com/BeaverDamFarmInc/

I have painted lots of sunflowers, most of them were realistically done so I was happy to try something a bit more abstract, like this.
The next one will be even more abstracted and maybe on Masa Rice Paper which is a favorite surface.  And this has a contorted vase shape too!
Go HERE to purchase.

KEEP YOUR PROMISES - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT ART

Well, I'm outta words.!!  I can't remember why I titled this one KEEP YOUR PROMISES.  But I bet it came to be from a conversation, maybe I had with one of my girls.
No, I think maybe it was my GranSon.  Sounds like something we would say to him.  Poor baby doesn't have a chance with so many females bossing him around.  BUT he has a really great Dad that helps him out when the going gets tuff.

It is available HERE ON FASO.

Would love to hear what you think.

OUTSIDE THE LINES - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING

My GranBabes and I do a good bit of art together, not as much as we used to.  And I never make them stay in the lines.  My GranSon switches back and forth between hands.  That's ambidextrous and no I had to use spell check.
A teacher at his school in 1st grade I think, was trying to make him pick a hand!  Thankfully his Mom (my daughter) got it straightened out. He goes to a loving christian school and there was no problem with using both hands.

I struggled for a while with this piece but it finally decided to do things my way.
Hope you like it.  it is available HERE

WE MUST BE AWARE OF THE FRAGILE ONES- ORIGINAL ABSTRACT

I love the colors of blue!  So many things are blue in Nature, you can hardly help but like them.

This work started with a painted paper made last year, mostly with blues.

I really like the finished work.  For whatever reason it makes me think of the weaker people in our world.  The reserved, timid, shy people that have little to say .
It looks like their world swirling all around, out of control but still shimmery and safe.

This is listed on my secure FASO website HERE.

THAT CRAZY HEART OF YOURS - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT ART

Hey Friends,  Just listed this on my FASO website last week.  It is 20" x 16" canvas panel. Would look great in a floater frame.  Looks like a conversation piece to me!
Check it out HERE.

THAT CRAZY HEART OF YOURS is a sentiment that could apply to a lot of situations.  Do you ever get mad at yourself for some of the feelings your heart seems to keep from you?  Or the ones it keeps throwing in your path?
Do you ever feel like your heart/soul is trying to trip you up?  Trying to keep you from growing?
All of this stuff comes from a Crazy Heart.

THE WAY LIFE IS LIVED - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT INSPIRATION

The Way Life is Lived was taken, by a backroad through my brain, from a conversation with an old friend from high school days.  The take away was, we gotta do the most we can to live our own lives.

The Way Life is Lived can mean a couple different things.  Are you living your life to the fullest extent?  Are you just passing the days, waiting for something bigger and better to happen?  Are you living in the past?
You want your child to have the best of everything and a better life than you had, but you can't live live his/her life for them.  Let them fumble and fail, help a little in getting back up.  Show them constantly, you love them but don't live for them.  You have a life too and I hope you are doing what makes you happy.  This is not a dress rehearsal.
I could go on but who gives a ____?
Don't you think a Baby would enjoy looking at colorful abstract?  It is listed HERE.
Glad you stopped in.

BLINDED AT A YOUNG AGE - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT ART

Hey Friends,  Hope your monitor shows the hint of color in this work.  It is listed on my FASO web site HERE

As usual this image came from a song.  Sad part is I can't remember now what song!?
But I was feeling at the time, that the grays and blacks and a hint of color COULD  be the way a person might remember what the world looked like after a few years of no sight.  Maybe it was a Ray Charles song, all though I don't believe he ever had sight.
Anyway I love how it turned out.

A MILLION YEARS AGO - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING

Hey Friends,  I hope some of the Glenvar Girls see my blog.  It would give them a little insight into my brain.  Maybe they could even say 'so thats what is wrong with her'.  HeeHee.
Looking forward to our pajama party!

This is listed HERE

I just plucked this title out of the air.  I was frustrated that I could not think of anything creative or unique.  I labor over my titles as much as the painting part!  Do You?
It seems to me the title should/could give a viewer some insight into what the artist is trying to say.
I'll get blasted for that statement.
Do you think it fits?
A million years ago what did they use to draw with?  Were humans even around then?  I can't remember our timeline, but what difference does it make?  We say 'a million years ago' for a lot of reasons that make no sense.
So that's my thoughts for this creation.

CELESTIAL SUNFLOWERS #1 AND #2 - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT ART

Hey Friends,  This set can be what you call a dyptch  or they can be displayed indivually.
They were inspired by my last visit to BEAVER DAM FARM in Buchanan, Virginia.  They have a sunflower festival there every year.  AgroTourism, even though they are a dairy farm, they are struggling like most farmers so they started this wonderful festival and I hope you go next year.

Here they are together, a little too together.

A shot of them together over a desk.  If you love sunflowers I think you will love these.  The colors are very sunflower-ry.

Hope you look at the link to Beaver Dam Farm, if you click on one of the photos, you will see a lot more hidden in there somewhere. And hope for better weather next year.

CONTORTED #2 - ORIGINAL STILL LIFE PAINTING

Hey Friends, I started a series of contorted vases a month or so ago.  This is the 2nd, and posting this has made me realize, I have not posted #1 yet!  I guess I should be expecting this more often!  LOL  It is on my FASO website HERE.

If you were to look at my Instagram you would see it and that I am using acrylic pour skins for these vases (most of them)  This pouring technique is a big pain in the wazoo so I may give it up.  I like different that's why I tried it.
Thanks for stopping in.

Hey Friends,  Hope you are having a great month of inspiration and quality time with your loved ones!  I am.  This piece was inspired by another conversation with my sister.  I talk to her more than anyone else.  We have had our disagreements but we usually get them 'hashed out pretty quick'.
I guess we love each other.

WHERE THERE IS PERFECTION - FLORAL IMPRESSION

I wanted to play with some soft feminine colors and tulip shapes.  This vertical canvas seemed perfect for the job.  I can see it in a floater frame or a tropical, beachy, pale color frame.

The shape of this canvas lends it self well to a lot of odd spaces.  Contemporary decor or traditional !

It is for sale on my secure website HERE

DO THE BEST YOU CAN - ORIGINAL SMALL ABSTRACT ART

Hey Friends,  This new piece of inspirational art is listed for sale on my website HERE . You can see it more clearly also.

Did you hear this a lot when you were a kid?  I did on occasion, but mostly I heard "She's not living up to her potential" (teachers).  Now that is inspiring another painting!

Have a wonderful week.

TIME FLIES - ORIGINAL SMALL ABSTRACT PAINTING

Hey Friends,  Always working!  Look out OBX, I'll be there soon.

This is titled "TIME FLIES".   My sister and I were talking about how old our babes are now and WE DO NOT feel old enough to have kids their age!  We all do that, don't we?
Even talking about it shows our age, right?

This is on my website HERE.  And you can see it better!

KEEPING IT TOGETHER - STILL LIFE PAINTING

I enjoy painting flowers in a very loose, impressionistic style.  There is beauty in the photo realistic style but it doesn't have much in the way an expressive artistic painterly statement does it?  I love to see the painters hand in their work.
This and most of my floral pieces are from my imagination.  I have a wide array of artificial flowers that are fun to use.   I drag them out once in a while.

This is painted on YUPO watercolor paper (a plastic paper).  It was fun to work on and I encourage you to give it a try.
This is listed on my website HERE.

Glad you stopped by.

DANCING IN THE DARK - ORIGINAL PAINTING

Hey Friends,  Inspiration comes from songs for me.  I enjoy music when I'm working.  This is from a Bruce Springsten song, I'm sure you have heard.  Beaux Jacque inspires a ton also.  I love Adelle but I usually cry and can't see what I'm doing so I don't listen to her very often.

This is a 12x12 piece and listed on my website HERE

This will probably be with other works at a show called ART BLAST,  to be held at Towers Mall, the upper level, here in Roanoke, Va.  All the way in the back where Rams Head used to be.  The famous STUDIO SCHOOL has moved into that space and they are sponsoring this event.
Hoping you can stop by and say hello and support some local creatives.

CONTORTED - ORIGINAL ABSTRACT STILL LIFE

The vase in this painting is an acrylic pour I did back in the summer.  These pours are fun to do even if they are totally on their own.  I could not find a single way to control them and if your table is not perfectly level, it will run everywhere.

I made several of these skins with the intention of doing vases and flowers from them.
A great little time killer to do with your GranBabes.
This is available on my website HERE
