THE SHOW HAS BEEN HUNG AND LOOKS GREAT

Hey Friends,  The show is up! and the reception is Aug 17th from 5 - 7 pm.   Please come by and chat for a minute.  They will have some nibbles and wine.

Thank you to Nancy, Susan and Keith for hanging the works so nicely.  The hanging can make all the difference in how they look.

Thank you to WVTF for making this space available to the arts.  It would be nice if more business' made this possible.

Hope to see you on the 17th!

DELIVERED THE ART TO WVTF and WENT HOME TO POUR MORE CELLS

NO ONE COULD CATCH IT 24 sq.

Hey Friends,  Bonnie and I delivered our work to WVTF this morning.
They prefer their hangers do the hanging of the work, so we just left!  I picked up my GranBabes then and took them to GreenHill Park in Salem.

Here is one hallway and there are about 3 more.  Should be a good show.

And here we are back home.  Lillie and I mixed up some paints and did 3 pours.  We did it on the picnic table and that was fun.

We made our pours on plastic wrap.  I have been experimenting with this technique of making skins.
If the pour is ugly I can toss it.

This is one I did yesterday on a canvas panel.
Makes me think of Key West.  Love those colors.

Have a great evening.

FOUND A NEW TECHNIQUE TO PLAY WITH (WASTE TIME WITH?)

Hey Friends,  I'm sure you ALL know about paint pouring and I have been watching YouTube videos of it for way over a year.  I thought it looked like fun but did not want to get involved with yet another new thing!  Also thought I should not waste the money.

But I have been wanting to play with a series of abstracted, deformed pottery rejects for months.  I think it will be interesting to use these panels and skins for the vases...!!
I'm starting to get the hang of it.  First ones look like marbled paper, not cells.
Can't wait to get started.

COMPLICATED FROM BIRTH  24" sq. Acrylic

And lastly, this new piece will be going to WVTF in the morning.  I painted over one that I did not like but kept the title.  I wonder if that is bad luck?A little glare on the right side but like I said, Photographing Artwork is a PAIN!

I'm liking my work more and more.  I would like to know your opinion.

NEW PAINTINGS TO GO TO WVTF IN ROANOKE

Hey Friends, I thought I should show you some of my new work that is going up at WVTF Radio Station next week.  I should have about 15 pieces to be in the exhibit with Bonnie Mason.

I so much enjoyed working on this one!  My favorite colors are in it, aqua, pale green, pinks!!
Title is DREAMS OF OUR FUTURE.  It is 24" square and 2 inches deep.

Would look lovely in any home.  It's nice to have a vision of the future.

Thank you for stopping by.

PHOTOGRAPHING ART IS SUCH A BIG PAIN IN THE WAZOO

DANCING ON THE FRONT PORCH  24sq.

Hey Friends,  If you are an artist then you probably know what I'm talking about when I say PAIN!!
This summer it has been especially hard 'cuz it rains nearly every day.

The top photo was taken in the studio and it is mainly fluorescent lights  I had a daylight bulb in a desk spotlight shining on it so that may be where all the warm came from.

The bottom photo was taken outside, under my Zelkovia that has a white sheet strung up in it like one of those shade sails.  Even with the white sheet it's much cooler than the other.
I don't know which is closest to correct.    It's raining so I don't really want to go get it, but I will have to before I put it on my website.
So I fetched the painting and it looks MORE like the top, the interior light!
I would have thought the outdoor light would have been more true.  Learn something every day.

A FEW THAT HAVE SOLD RECENTLY ON EBAY

Hey Friends,  A short note to tell you I"M STILL HERE!  and doing well.  I went to dinner with the Glenvar Girls last night and enjoyed the small turn out.  A few friends gives you a chance to talk to each other, really talk and listen.
And when I got home from dinner a wonderful woman in the state of WA had purchased 3 of my collages!!

These collages had been sitting in my store for a while and I had decided that no one liked them or maybe no one liked collages.  Then last month some on the East coast bought 4 of them and then someone bought 3 on the west coast !!  Go figure...that's why I'm not to quick to take things out of my Shop.  Ebay and Etsy are so huge it takes a while to be found.

So happy she liked SUPER BOWL, the top one and MAKE NEW FRIENDS and ...KEEP THE OLD.  Hope she will send a photo when she hangs them.

Getting ready to hang a show at the public radio station WVTF, across from Red Lobster, next week .
Hoping to see some of you at the reception on Aug. 17 from 5-7pm, that is a Friday evening.  I hear that they have nice refreshments and you will have my new work to look at and Bonnie Mason's gorgeous paintings of our local views.

Please share this with everyone you know.
Thanks for stopping by,

PLEIN AIR PAINTING WITH THE DOUBLE LINE PAINTERS TODAY

Hey Friends, Judy got a good photo of some of us this morning on our ride down to THE bridge.  This place is awesome, so much prettier than the photos you see.  And it is Va.'s newest State Park so you can get a great deal on a year long pass to ALL of the state parks.

And here is Linda and Mary Anne taking a photo of the semi completed paintings.
We had a great new friend from the Lexington area join us today and then we had a super ranger named Veronica give us a tour of the entire park and a few hidden landscapes that we all think were worthy of a painting.
Huge THANKS TO Michael and Veronica.

NEW ORIGINAL PAINTINGS LISTED ON FASO

LEAVING IT ALL BEHIND  24x18

Hey Dear Friends,  Finished this piece Sunday.  Photographed it, varnished it and now it needs the back dust cover and wire to hang from.

I love these colors and one of my favorite things about abstracts are the textures.  Titles of work have always intrigued me and I've had fun coming up with titles for these guys.  Unlike realism, where you usually have titles like, Gary's Barn or Landscape # 8 or Mayberry Mill,  with abstracts it can be any thing your feeble little brain can describe.  Most of my titles thus far have come from my childhood.  Let's pray I don't look for titles from adult hood.
As usual, I'm having a little difficulty using the autumn palette but maybe by the time autumn rolls in, I will be over my favorite palette.  I'm also thinking it would be fun to use a certain color in everything for a while.  Much like Elizabeth Chapman is doing.  I was trying to follow her but I'm either too forgetful or just to eager.  I do love her work.

COLLAGES PURCHASED BY A LOVELY NEW YORKER !

Hey Friends,  Today is the fourth so I thought I would shoot one of my own noise makers, or toot my own horn.  These four collages were sent to Youngstown, NY on Monday.

A lovely person up there appreciated my collages.

I had a ton of fun making about 20 of  these guys.
Especially enjoyed making the papers for them.  Newsprint paper was a treat to work on.

I can't wait to see how they are framed and displayed.
I love getting photos from collectors of their art in situ.

now I shall get dressed for a trip to Hobby Lobby with my Daughter and GranBabes.

Enjoy your FOURTH safely.
