ORIGINAL PLEIN AIR PAINTING

Hey Friends,  We had such glorious weather here in the little town of Salem, Va. today.   On my way to the post office, I stopped for a bit at the corner of Mill Lane and River Road to paint this beautiful little spot.

Of course this photo doesn't show much, my arm is not long enough!  I enjoyed this time immensely.

It is up for auction on EBAY -Click there. Will engage on 24th.

And I get to do it again tomorrow in the Sedalia Area of Va.

And then on Friday, I'll be packing up the works again to take to the Salem Civic Center.  The annual Home Builders Show is this weekend.  It is supposed to be a wet weekend, so it will be a good time to come peruse all the vendors.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OF FOGGY MORNING

 

Hey Friends,  I'm no longer snowed in......Dratts..........Now I feel squirrelly.  Like someone is going to expect me to come visit.  Like my painting time isn't important.

Other artists know how I feel.

 

Yesterday I painted the one above.  It was one of those that painted itself.  All I did was load the brush for it.

ORIGINAL PAINTING OLD WALNUTS ON GUM SPRINGS

 

Hey Friends,  A horizontal landscape painted a few months ago en plein aire.  I tweaked it last week and finally decided it was finished.  This is the little sprout of water that is basically drainage from all the mountains around us.  It usually dries up in the summer unless it's a very wet season.

Soon it will be time to go there again - YAY!!

Glorious Day for an Artist

 Hello Friends and Neighbors,   This morning was beautiful here in the mountains of SW Virginia.  Maybe it isn't obvious in these photos but the sun was shining nicely, there was a breeze, and the temp. was perfect.   I jumped on the golf cart and headed down the road to my neighbor's pond.

 These wonderful folks don't mind me painting or my GranBabes chasing their chickens or dog.  They love to come here.  They live in the city and love running loose in the country.  In the top photo you can see that the ducks are hiding in the corner of the pond.   They are very skiddish of strangers.

In the 2nd painting, which was about an hour later, I guess they were getting used to my presence, because as you can see, they were right out in the middle of the pond.   You've never seen such splashing and fluffing and chasing.  They seem to really love each other.
In this second painting, after backing up to get photos, I could see that I didn't like the large yellowish spot on the left and below the ducks.  I changed that but forgot to re shoot.  Once they dry I'll scan both and show you that it looks better now.
I truly enjoyed this day and hope there are more to come.  I need this practice badly to improve.
