ORIGINAL PAINTING SWING UNDER THE CURLY WILLOW

Hey Friends,   I painted this just a couple weeks ago.  It was sunny and warm not much thought of autumn.  Than BAM, it all changed so fast.

My sisters place again.  She found this vintage swing in Salem.  It's much prettier than pictured here.  I love this curly willow and when you are in the swing, it makes me think of Alice in Wonderland.  The curly foliage envelopes you, so it's sort of a wonderland.

This is available HERE.

Have a great week.

First Post of 2015 with a look toward Spring

Hey Friends,  Starting this New Year right !  Starting with thoughts of the coming spring.  My GranBabes and I (me especially) are sick of being cooped up indoors.  And its only January.  At least 3 more months of this yuck.
This little painting was a joy to create.  I love to play with the colors of spring.  Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Daffodils, Iris, Tulips all have so many joyful colors, you can't help but be happy when looking at them.
Do you remember swinging on an old rope swing with the wooden seat?  Most of us loved to be twirled until the ropes were wrapped all the way to the top and then pushed, way high and twirling all at once.  Such great fun.
I'm listing some of my untraditional work (such as collages) in my neglected ETSY shop.  CLICK HERE to check it out.  I will still be listing work on Ebay.  It seems the people that shop on Ebay want more straight forward paintings, not so much contemporary.
Everything is an Experiment.

"A boy and His Dog"

Hey Friends,  Here is a wee bit of heaven for ya.  We can only dream of such things.  Mostly inspired by the movie "All Dogs go to Heaven".  This fella is swinging with his best friend one last time. Convincing him there is nothing to be afraid of in Heaven.  Click Here for a closer look in Ebay.

And now for what I did today.

I went to "Butts Cemetery" in the Glenvar/Fort Lewis area on Alleghany Rd. here in Salem, Va.  And painted a small sketch for a distant cousin that is to be in this area in April or May doing genealogy research on his ancestors.  Which includes some of mine.  The work he and his sister have done is amazing.  They have such patience.

He wants to visit this cemetery so I thought he might like something besides a photo.  A professional photographer may be able to do this place justice but not me.  And from the looks of that photo above, someone is doing some construction there.  See ya soon Robert.

the Raven and Japan

Hey Friends, OK, here is my beautiful Raven and one messy small greenish blob. I'm always surprised how quick and easy these guys are to paint. Kinda like cows. I like the yellow background. I was shootin' for happy. Makes me happy!
Now this one is a happy painting too. I'm going to list it in the Daily Paintworks challenge. ALL the funds raised will go to help out in Japan. Isn't it wonderful they figured out how to set this up so quickly? David Marine is his name so go check out the site and buy something !!
Now what do ya think of this painting? You supposed to paint something that reminds you of home. These are the mountains here in SW Virginia and the Roanoke River. I painted it as if I were in the top of a very tall tree, looking over Greenhill Park, because that park is close to home. Obviously the rest is a good dream.

LA SERIES #2

Hey Friends, Thought I would show you my newest addition to the LA series. This is painted with acrylics on a canvas panel-6" sq. Isn't this a sweet one? What would you give to be this age again? And swinging? Spooky thoughts, huh?

Now I'll head over to Etsy to list this 'cuz I haven't figured out how to put that darned Paypal button thingy on my blog! As usual, I have wasted , at minium, an hour fooling with paypal and the layout here. I may have to call in the geek squad again.

NEW LA SERIES

Hey Friends, I'm working on a new series of small paintings that I decided to call my LA series. Its a secret code for the model that you see in the swing! This first painting is actually painted on top of a doll sewing pattern that I glued to the canvas. I got a little heavy with the acrylic. You can barely see the pattern. I think it might be a good idea with refinement but this is my first, so we shall see.
Can you remember how it feels to swing? I certainly remember, it's still fun for me. This little angel loves to swing. She will stay in a swing for hours.
In case you haven't noticed, I was messing with the lay out of the photos above. It doesn't look the way I thought it might because the images are different sizes. Maybe I'll get it right next time. I'm going to my Etsy shop now to list this one.
