30 in 30 - Day 16

Hey Friends,  Here is another mini !   Lilacs.....Can't imagine anyone not loving lilacs.

That heavenly smell alone is worth your effort to grow.

And how many colors do they come in now?

I'm painting another one or two but bigger.

This mini is a 4"x 4" canvas panel.  You could display as is on a mini easel or frame it.

It is in my ETSY shop waiting for you to come by and take her home.

ORIGINAL OIL STILL LIFE PAINTING - LESSON NO. 3 LILACS

Hey Friends,  This painting will be at the Jefferson Center soon.

The Double Line Painters will be showing there from Nov. 16 through Jan. 15.

We will have a reception on Nov. 29th, a Sunday, from 2-4pm.

Hope to see everyone then, but if you can't make the reception, you can view the work anytime the Jefferson Center is open.

EXPERIMENTING WITH DISPLAYS

 

Hey Friends,  I have wanted for a long time to show my work in an actual home setting.  I know this can be done virtually but have not found any DIY or tutorials on such.

 

So the only thing left, is do it manually.  And what a job !  And no, I did not feel like painting the wall or doing hours of house keeping.  I'm not much of a house wife, would much rather be painting.

I took photos of most of the larger work on hand.  That took several hours.  Now if anyone out there would please take a moment to let me know if this stinks or is it acceptable?

New Painting

                                                        Antique Bucket         4x6

Hey Friends,  This is a new painting.  A small one done on a navy blue ground.  I liked painting on this navy blue with white.  Makes a very cool, as in temperature, painting.  Just straight painting with acrylics.
I have been going through my older paintings and I have found I can't tell which are oil and which are acrylic, if I didn't mark them.  Do any of the artists out there know a secret way to tell them apart?
I'm a little surprised because I always thought they would be easy to identify.

11th day-Painting! in 30 day Challenge

 Hey Friends,  I used the same reference photos that I had for the bluebird diptych for this one.  This year I hung out a finch feeder sock with thistle to see what happened.  And....."GoldFinches" .....showed up !!

First time I've ever seen any around here.  So sweet and cute and paintable.  Loved it.

By the first of Sept. it seemed they had all left but I read in one of my many bird books that they lose their beautiful gold color after mating.  Such a shame.  I'll have to wait til next year for more photos.

BlueBird diptch - Right side

Hey Friends,  Here is the other half of my diptch, the right side.  These are 12" squares.  Look at my last post to hear about YES canvas.  I failed to say I get this canvas at ASWExpress.
I'm at my GrandBabes birthday party today and I posted this last night !  Hopefully everything went fine.   I'm enjoying this challenge this time.  I failed the last challenge.  Thanks, Leslie!

Blue Bird Diptch

Hey Friends,  This is the left side of a dyptch.  I'll post the right side tomorrow.  I was at my youngest daughters house this summer, actually spring, because that's when I snapped a 100 photos of a large old lilac in the back yard.  There were some birds, and plenty of Bee's but not a Blue Bird. 
I believe what was really there was a Titmouse, so I just used his body shape for the BB.

I really enjoyed painting these.  I used the "YES" canvas and very fluid acrylics.  It felt very much like watercolor.  The Yes canvas is very smooth and it claimed to be for all fluid media so I gave it a try and love it...I've been using it for a long time with acrylics and oils so now ya know you can use it like watercolor paper too!  I have never cared for the texture of canvas so Yes was a great find.
