NEW QUARANTINED PAINTINGS

S
Hi My Friend,  I know you are busy, like me, will try to keep this short.  I added new work done during the quarantine to my Ebay store and DPW.  The top piece was a humor problem I have ...everything is supposed to be humorous!   If you had as trouble as I did finding toilet paper and sanitizer you may not think it is too funny, but that is my problem.

The other two were done from memory.  Mom's old mail box she keeps gloves and tools in for the garden and the old shelter/shed that could fall any time.  Just junk under there mostly.  Lots of times we put the old golf cart under there.

Hope you will sign up for email updates her because I intend to give away small original paintings this year.   I wish all of you a long healthy, happy life.

New Auction and more Windy Plein Aire

Hey Friends,  Been a little while.  I'm still here and going strong.  Out there with the other members of the Double Line Painters in Salem today.
But first go check out this flock for auction on EBAY.

Here is the view we had this morning at Salem Terrace @ Harrogate.  Beautiful day after all the poo poo reports from the weather men.  The clouds were really moving on.

Here is the little sketch I finished before we had to break for lunch.  Plein Air is hard work.
We, the DLP's, will be painting, or making cards, next week, Wed. the 12th, at 2nd Helpings Gallery on Williamson Rd. from about 10:30 til 1.
We would love for you to come by and chat.  Take a tour through this impressive little gallery.

Til then - Happy Trails

She is in Ebay waiting for you to bid on her, I mean choose her.  She is in a 5x7 Mat and ready for a standard sized frame.  Click here to see her.

Day 9 of the Leslie Saeta Challenge

Hey Friends,  This palm was painted on the porch at Myrtle Beach.  The weather was nothing to crow about so I stayed on the porch.  I know it got close to freezing while we were there in Dec. so I'm wondering how cold it is now !  I always thought these palms wouldn't make it that cold.
She is in my Ebay store, Click here.  The auction starts at a penny.

Day 7 of the 30 Day Challenge

Hey Friends,  Still chugging along.  I believe I took about 400 photos of the birds on the beach at Myrtle Beach, SC.  We would feed them popcorn and pretzels.  They came in a big burst.  Almost made the sky disappear.  This guy is really embellished with the colors.  I've got a couple more drawn out and ready for me to paint (today I hope).
This birdy is available in an Ebay auction by clicking here.

Day 5 of Leslie Saeta's Challenge

Hey Friends,  Just finished packing a couple of little paintings that were purchased on Ebay !  It is a very, very small beginning but I'm sticking with it this time.  I appreciate all the lovely people that are bidding on my humble little works.  I have meet some pretty special people through my art posting.

This little bird house was in the garden next door to the Whitacker house in Myrtle Beach, SC.  And it was not these colors.  But I'm a colorholic so this is what I saw.  No drugs were involved, really.

And I'm putting in my ebay store at a start of $0.01.  Click here if you want to see.

Day Three of Leslie's Challenge

Hey Friends, This is Ocean #2.  Painted while I was at Myrtle Beach, SC last week.  One of the many things I like about watercolor is the way the paint runs into each other or Blooms.  Like the way the sky ran together here.  I got it to bloom a bit in the waves also.  Simple little piece is in my EBAY store-Click Here.

Day Two Original Watercolor

Hey Friends,  Day 2 already.   I've listed this in Ebay, with auction starting at a penny.  This was painted plein aire, mostly.  I was on the porch of the Whitacker House in N. Myrtle Beach, SC. last week.  The light was pretty flat and it was windy so I stayed on the porch. (If you can't run with the big dogs-stay on the porch, right?)
Enjoyed every minute of it.

Geraniums in Old Window

Hey Friends,  I've been playing with the pen, ink and water color for about a week now.  Mostly at night, in front of TV.   I'm still enjoying it.  I'm doing a bit of this and that.  Some birds, some windows, some doors, mailboxes, and some chickens.  I need to find a pheasant photo.  I got some pheasant photos of my neighbors exotic pheasants (beautiful birds) but not the common North American variety.  Here is link to my Etsy shop.
Yesterday I took a short trip around Salem, getting some photos of the fall colors.  The colors don't seem to be so great this year.   I don't understand why the colors can be SO different from one year to the next.
In the morning I will meet my plein-aire group, the Double Line Painters, and we will be making deli-papers.  These are colorful papers for collages.  To me making these papers is the most fun part of collages.
DLP also hung a big show at the Jefferson Center this morning and a smaller one at the Salem Museum this afternoon.  Both shows will hang through the end of December, so you have lots of time to go by and find a unique gift for any occasion this year.
Judy took this photo of Linda and me, hanging work at the Salem Museum.
And here Linda is demonstrating how to hang a mini-painting on a tree.  Yeah, we can get pretty goofy at times.   Click here for the DLP blog to see more photos.

Summer's Mailbox

Hey Friends,  Something different today.   Not a bird in sight!  Such a shame, a bluebird perched on that box would be pretty.
This is painted first with pen and ink then watercolor to fill it out. I'm listing it in my Etsy shop.
On another note, Judy, Mary Anne and myself where out today in Bedford, Va. taking photos of BARNS !  There is a beautiful red barn behind us in this photo.  But we were thrilled these cows came over to say HI !   Judy is the photographer here.   I took 298 photos today .  We had a good day and enough fodder for 200 paintings.  We also came across a farm with a lot of colorful chickens and roosters.   I was happy to get this reference.  I was thinking of you NaNaKat when photographing the chickens.

Mini Original Art for the Holidays

Hey Friends,  Yes, How I've slacked off since that challenge ended.  Bad - Bad.  I have been busy even though I haven't shown you anything.  At night, I like to give my Mom a little company.  She isn't getting any younger, so we watch some TV and holler at each other ( we're both deaf).  I can take that for just so long and then I pull out the paints and pens, and start doodling.
Pen and Ink with watercolor has proven to be pretty neat and doesn't take up much room.  Since it has turned winter here in Virginia (I hate this) I can't play outside any more, so I'll have to be content with this for now.
These are small little jewels and would make nice, inexpensive gifts for almost anyone, especially the person that has everything.  If you want a mini of any subject,  just let me know.  I will probably be able to do it with a little flair.   Check this out in my Etsy shop, HERE.

ART BY NIGHT at GALLERY 108

Hey Friends, If you are in the area (Roanoke, Va.) come out for the Art by Night in downtown Roanoke in the market area. Some areas call it an Art Crawl but it means that the galleries all stay open 'til 9pm. Refreshments are served while you browse the new works and a featured artist. At Gallery 108 it is Revelle Hamilton. She has beautiful watercolors on display tonight.
This morning I changed my work. I had birds up but now my cows are hanging. I like all the bright colors! Maybe someone will fall in LOVE with my bovines.
Have a great weekend.

Happy Trails.

LOVE THAT COBALT

This post is being published Wed. Feb. 18th.2009. Can't figure out how to change the date on a draft.

Hey Friends,

This was painted a couple of years ago also. It is watercolor. I remember why I gave it that title. I had a new tube of cobalt violet and cobalt green and the colors are lucious. Cobalts colors are heavy, they come from minerals. So when you put a brush, dripping with color, on watercolor paper (this is Arches) the mineral sinks to the bottom of the liquid before it starts to dry. You get a granulated effect. Just beautiful! I got the idea for this composition, while at a workshop, being held at a local artist home. There were easels and such everywhere.

This is double-matted, under glass, and the metal frame is gold and deep. It measures 20"x16". Normal selling price is $200.00 but for this studio sale, $100.00 and $3.00 shipping will work.

Shipping for this size would be around $23.00, so that's a good deal also. Click for my etsy shop.

SPRING BULBS

Hey Friends,
I painted this several years ago, using watercolor. I remember the little area being close to Tanglewood mall area. Off of Starkey Rd. It has been demolished and a nursery sits there now. It is double-matted and in a metal frame that is a greenish-gray color. Pretty much the color of the under mat. It measures 20" x 16" and is under glass. It is a soft, dreamy type of landscape, some might say romantic.
This size normally sells for over $200.00 but a studio sale should put it at $100.00. And I'll ship it for $3.00. Normally shipping would be about $23 for this size. So that's a deal.

It's a pretty piece - don't let it slip away. Click here for my etsy shop.
