CHICKENS BY THE SEA - NEW ORIGINAL PAINTING

Hey Friends,  A 9x12 on WC paper for your viewing today.  I start with a black & white thumbnail.

My favorite app for putting art on a wall just changed their backgrounds.  I'm really happy about that.
I was tired of looking at the same old walls.

Listed HERE on my website.

A BIT OF YARROW-ORIGINAL ABSTRACT ART

Hey Friends,  A lot of people will not know what 'Yarrow" is.  It is an herb that grows in yellow, pink & white.  I do not know what it is good for, but I bet Google does.  All the colors reminded me of Yarrow.

These abstractions look good in a narrow mat and a white frame.
Or black!
Visit my FASO website HERE to purchase.

YOU WILL INSPIRE OTHERS - AN ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING

Hey Friends,  My soft side is showing up here with all this pink!  Still; I'm hoping this inspires you to buy it, paint one like it, or get the crayons out and make your own idea of inspiration.

This is painted on WC Paper this is gessoed first so the acrylics will not sink into the paper so fast.  Gives you a bit more time to work it.
Available on my website  HERE!

Thank you for stopping by and visit again tomorrow.

A GLASS MIRROR

Hey Friends,  I recently found out that mirrors can be made out of other stuff besides glass.
Like aluminum and other metals and maybe mica.

So you know where this title came from.  Am I grasping or am I a lazy schlep?  I have a tiny book that I write titles in every time I hear or read something appealing.
Do you love that blue as much as I do ?
HERE is where you will find this for sale.

Thanks for stopping in.

NEW ART WORK "LILLIE'S GARDEN"

Hey Friends,  It has been a drizzly day here in SW Va.  The kinda day that makes you hunker down under the quilt.
That's mostly what I did today but I spent equal time on the 'puter!  Slapping myself once in while to stay awake.

This piece of art on WC paper was inspired by Lillie's pots of blooms.  Loved those coral'ly geraniums and white vinca.  This piece is a 12"sq. and would look very nice with a white mat and white frame.
You can buy it on my website right here - Lillie's Garden.

I have lots more to list  and hope you like them.
Please let me know by comments or emails.

GOING THE DISTANCE - #30 DAY CHALLENGE - DAY 15

Hey My Friends,  I must of been a bit weary or a bit inspired when I thought of this title.

Goes really well in this kitchen, don't ya think??  Make sure your painting has a couple good coats of varnish before hanging in a kitchen or bathroom.
This painting is available HERE on my website and you can see it HERE on Leslie's challenge blog.

CHANNELING PABLO - 30 in 30 CHALLENGE

Hey Friends,  A slight departure from my usual.  Gotta little bit of Picasso going on here.
I thought the bolder heavier shapes looked a bit like Pablo.

I'm going to show you some process shots on another post soon.

This is available for your home HERE and is also shown on the 30 Day Blog HERE.

DAWG DID IT - 30 IN 30 CHALLENGE

Hey Friends,  This painting is one of the very first pieces I tried with abstractions.  Not as loose and playful as I was going for.  But some people like more control.

This is located HERE on my website and is Day 11 in the challenge.

30 in 30 CHALLENGE - RUSHING HOME

Hey You All,  This painting looks kind of springy to me, probably 'cuz of the greens.  It is raining snow and probably ice right this minute here in SW Virginia.  This painting is a real contrast to what I see outside.  You will find this on my WEBSITE or in DT Roanoke at Gallery 202.

This was created specifically for this challenge and it was another lesson in my journey to the abstract side of my brain.  Would be nice to hear from my friends what they think of this journey.  Even if you don't especially like abstract art, you should still have an opinion as to how it makes you feel  The colors of anything should have an effect on you.
So don't be shy, unless you are extremely mean, you won't hurt my feelings.
I LOVE doing these works so I'm not gonna stop.

Hope your winter day is happy for you.

30 IN 30 FEELING FLUID

Hey Friends,  Hope Ground Hog Day is going your way.  I'm posting my 30 in 30 Challenge paintings every day apparently.
When I was working on this one with Transparent Iron Oxide and Indigo the paint was moving so freely this title is what came to me.  The WC Paper was gessoed so the paint would not sink in immediately.  This gives you more time to play and I like the way the paint sits on top.

Now I will go to Leslie Saeta's blog page to attempt to load this work.  And I will link it here to my website.

COMPLICATED FROM BIRTH - Original Abstract Art

Hey Friends,   A few photos of the process I can go through when  making a new piece of art.  Majority of the time I start with a sketch.

Putting down the base layer.

Already added more base colors with grays.  Now starting with some lavenders.

Some burnt umbers and whites.

Just about finished.  A few accent colors with swirly marks.
Don't remember where the title came from but I think I was reviewing the conversation I had with my sister about her sons or daughter.  They have been Hi-Maintenance, complicated from birth.

Threw this shot in at the last minute.  I like showing a painting within a room.  Now I need to learn how to make them throw a shadow.

View and purchase on my website FASO or buy a shower curtain or pillow at FAA.

BRAND NEW VISION - Original Abstract Art Painting

Hey Friends,  Making your way through this week , happily?
Hoping for some warmer weather so I can get outside to paint.  This year I want to try making collages outside.  I know, if it's windy what do I do?  Probably sit in the car or find a bunch of rocks.  HehHeh, Can't wait.

So this piece of my brain got it's title from my desire to try NEW painting styles.  I have always been pretty realistic and after 25 years, I just feel the need to do differently.  Hope it lasts for years, because it is so much fun.  Sometimes it is a bit taxing but I believe it may be a good way to defeat Alzhimers and a host of other elderly problems.  Although I'm still a spring chicken, it doesn't hurt to start early.
This piece is varnished and ready to hang and for purchase at my website, HERE,  FREE shipping in the continental US.
Nice, good quality reproductions are available at FAA, HERE.

No. 9 in 30 Day Challenge "HOT GLUE"

Hey Friends,  Day nine !!! Glad I decided to take the weekends off.  Seems to make this so much easier.  I didn't have my Gran Babes over the weekend because of the SNOW so when I do have them next weekend, it will be extra nice with out that pressure.

I still played in the studio yesterday.  I made some free form stencil, mask thingies out of Hot Glue.  If you don't get the timing just right you can't flatten them.  They must be warm.  Hot glue sets up pretty fast.

Hopefully if you look hard enough you will find the almost clear thingies.  Also showing you the deli papers I coated with gold and silver.  I think it might work.  I intend to play with them today.

This shot is to show you my mess made with a kitchen fatigue mat.  It felt squishy in the store and I thought it would work.  Not squishy enough.  Plus it has a texture that you can't see with my naked eye.  The 2 little canvas panels are what I will play with today.  One in front has an old tissue pattern I found at goodwill, years ago.  And the other has some paper I made years ago.
And the top photo of #9 started life with tissue that I stitched on with a sewing machine.  Even though it is small (5x7) I was pleased with my outcome.
Onward!!

Another Abstract Added to My Website

Hey Friends,  I have enjoyed this side of my brain working.  Actually, It's probably the same side I've always used, it just feels different.

I started with a circle and some bead gel.  From there it took on it's own life !  As I was adding the diagonal marks, they looked like liquid spinning off the wheel.  That made me think of a time or two when children have gotten sick on carnival rides.   And that made me think the ferris wheel did not like them doing that, so the wheel just spit the children OUT!

Sometimes my imagination is in over drive, just like my GranBabes.

Anyway, now you know how some Titles come about.

You can check out the details and purchase on my website - HERE.

Thanks for stopping in.

ANOTHER GREAT DAY FOR PAINTING ! ! !

The only way to see the video is to go to the blogger site by clicking up there on the title of this post or on "Dairy of a Madd Painter up there.  And I just found out this video is 2 seconds long, the battery died.  Man, what a learning curve.  Hoping to get better at this.

Hey Dear Friends,  Hope your day was fun and fruit full like mine.  The painting above was started a month ago in the field.  Just got back to it and finished it.  I'm going to title it Fleece Vines 'cuz I think that's what the pinkish blooms are.

I made 4 videos today.  Of me painting 3 different works.  And they are all to long (too many MB) for Blogger.  Has to be less than 100MB.  I just need to figure out how many minutes or seconds that is !
Sheesh, as if computers aren't enough work already.
So whadda ya do with videos that are too long?  Get a YouTube Channel you say?  Well maybe I'll fool with that some day, when I can't get outside.

The video here is about trying Robert Burridge's technique.  I've seen several of his Bob Blast's and I've been hankering to try something new.
I've always painted fairly realistically and I just want to stretch a bit.

I have had this argument with myself for years.  the Art Establishment/Galleries say you should pick one technique, or one subject, or one theme and stick with it for years.  They say it will confuse your collectors to change.  Well, my feeling is "If you're a world famous artist this might be true".  But for me (since I'm not famous) I don't think it matters much.

We are always reading that we should follow our Bliss and paint what we want to see, so that's what I'm doing.  At least until I'm bored.  I really want to paint abstracted landscapes or maybe it's called expressive landscapes.  Whatever,  maybe I'll wind up with Suescapes.  HA.

More coming your way, so stay tuned!  And any healthy advice is welcomed.
